It's just the release pace that makes it feel bad, waiting for chapters. If you read it in a volume this thing would feel super short, it will just help main couple move forward. For sure it's not the best writing but it's the typical "reflecting on jealousy" moment, which is fine overall.

Honnestly, i'm more bothered by the fact that he can't realise he's jealous after all this time than by the fact that we got a second false romantic lead in the story.

Also, the "here to make protag jealous" aside, I like the new guy. He seems nice, and it's an interesting idea to have the heroine having a sort of counterpart of her who never got anyone to support him.

This manga doesn't have a lot of character in it, so I kinda hope the new fake love interest will actually be a character too, and not just a device for the story.

I would genuinely hate it. There is a manga where the main girl, who's actually the MC, is trying to get her childhood friend's attention and then on chapter 21, like 21 whole chapters worth of character development later the FMC finds the MC and her best friends French kissing. Then suddenly the whole manga changes from fluffy wholesome story with no Drama to what I described.

While this is not quite the same, I hate when I get invested in a couple and then that couple completely falls apart and the MCs get with other ppl. Granted that this is not a usual trope, I still worry when I see the signs.

I gotta admit... this latest arc seems kind of a forced development. Both the MC and heroine getting their "worst case scenarios" conveniently manifested at the same time to force them into a reckoning with how they feel about each other? idk man
