@Goldenzeal You should get your ass out of your head. The moral values and such of someone from this "modern world" is thrown out in the window the moment they are transported into a medievalish society like the ones most isekais has. That was straight obvious when it opened him being sold in a slave auction. But we don't even need get into this discussion, which would be a very long one if we'd properly compare opinions and points in the topic, because what the protagonist met here is a very straightforward situation. Kill or be killed (in this case the ones important to you). And no matter the era or world or whatever, in this situation, you only have 2 real choice, as btw I know from the spoilers already that will be the case. Now if you have the power to not to be killed, and he has, you should go for it without a second thought. It's pretty much comes down to this.

Honestly, you better hope you'll never find yourself in this type of situation, yeah, it can happen irl as well by the way, because you will be royally fucked with this thinking.

Honestly, I dropped this a long time ago because in the WN after this event
where literally everyone the MC has ever cared about dies; once he's calmed down from his grief, he goes back home - takes the Baram treasures (an isekai universal storing bag and two other things, don't really remember) - decides to go through the wild beast forest - gives back a stolen dragon baby to its parents - earns their approval and give him safe passage through the forest - ends up at the peaceful town the crazy military guy wanted to invade and now as the literal O!N!L!Y! survivor of the destruction left behind by him, (he quite literally pancakes the ENTIRE FUCKING CASTLE, TOWN, SURROUNDING AREAS + PEOPLE) he feigns ignorance on what happened and is granted a place to live in the town. From there it kind of becomes a random slice-of-life isekai story where the MC now starts over as a free man in another town where no one knows him and completely forgets about his previous life he had a slave to the Baram household. Thus he begins the process of farming life, harem gathering life, wild beast taming life, introducing new and exciting things to the medieval world life, and new much-better-behaved royals slowly having expectations from him life. So yeah, dropped. I didn't really read past the part he added. . . I think it was. . . a sheep beast girl to his new waifu harem so that's all I got too add.

Also, for those bashing on him for NOT doing anything while everyone he cares about dies, he honestly and literally COULDN'T do anything! At this point in time, he's still a slave and bound by a slave contract to obey everything his master tells him to do! He does not have any free will beyond that. And guess who holds that slave contract now? The bad guy does, which means that even though he desperately wants to save everyone he's basically NOT allowed to. So imagine if you would, being completely bound and gagged while a murder does whatever the hell he wants to your family while you can do no more than weakly struggle around on the floor and watch in horror as it happens. It's only after the shock, grief, and despair fully sets in from
watching their deaths that his explosive barrier power goes insanely berserk that he's able to finally free himself by pancaking the guy who owns his slave contract + everyone else in the vicinity to death from his out-of-control power. I honestly don't really approve of what he did considering that was A LOT of innocent people who got caught up in this fucking mess he made and I especially hated how he was so plainly dismissive toward the damages considering he basically pulled the same shit as Full Metal Alchemist's Dwarf in the Flask where in one night, instantly, an entire civilization was gone. In his case though, it was an accident brought on by the military idiots who caused his powers to go out of control, but that's still not an excuse. Anyways, my point is, that unlike say the manga - Unparalleled Sage - where Ephthal held both the mighty power and free will to destroy his enemies, but he didn't do so until after he believed they had killed his brother, our MC here is still a slave and doesn't have the ability to do so until his power consumes his mind in rage.

I agree getting into a discussion on morals would take a long while, so yeah lets not get into what is right and wrong morally here....
But i do disagree on that any kind of moral is irrelevant just because you change the settings.
He himself still values those morals (not to mention some of those morals still exist in the new world) witch is fairly obvious from reading the novel...
Granted maybe not as much here in the manga but still not the main point anyway...

on the whole kill or be killed thing, Its not without any other options just yet for him. ( even if at first glance all options suck )
He could for example just cut his losses and kept the girl alive by running away or even bargined the vault key for at least one life.

But both of those options would be against his wishes as he wants to save everybody so he refused them.
from a logical standpoint this is a stupid idea to even try, but it's understandable...
This is however what makes it into a true kill or be killed situation, his own greed/desires/wishes what have you.

honestly even with his current power he would probably have been able to saved them all if he used him power in a perfect way....
His power is ridiculously broken as it does way more than just creates shields.
But now we are getting into" what ifs" He is not nearly as good with using his power offensively at this moment in time.
That and not everyone can work well under pressure

stalling for time like he does is likelly the best option he has ( if he wants to try and save them all ) while getting time to think and more information to consider his limited options.
And also just attacking someone without a really good plan who holds the lives of the people you want to save in his hand is not a good idea in a hostage situation.
neither is attacking an entire army by yourself unless you are a god among men, and right now he isn't that powerfull/skilled.

Also no i'm not going to get my ass out of my head as it never was there in the first place.
My mindset is just fine and im all to aware that life or death situations can happen in real life, i have actually been in one and i am still here.
This is actually one of the reasons why i on a personal level hate people who just suggest "hurr durr kill everyone" without considering the situation.

Man that's a lot of resources being expanded to get one barrier master who you already know will have zero loyalty and will require you to constantly invest a lot of time and management to make sure they never escape or get stolen from you the same way you stole them. It'd be one thing if this was just for the one-time password but the guy made clear last chapter that he wants MC to join him.

Speaking of last chapter he was throwing children to their death. Like not even particularly evil children or anything, stripping them naked and gruesomely killing them. Don't get me wrong, I understand the practical end of killing out the entire royal bloodline, it prevents any rebels from having a central figure to rally behind making it easier to deal with them in smaller groups, but this was a public execution of scared, naked, crying children. Humans are a social creature, we survived in the world by working together and protecting future generations, we have biological mechanisms that make us find these sorts of things as wrong, you don't do this shit in front of your soldiers like this. If the children were the only members of royalty left so you used them as a focal point for all of the hate against royalty as a whole? Fine. If the children were particularly awful and everyone knew it, seems a bit weird but I'd get that, but no. We had a bunch of jackasses from Royalty around that served both purposes, what you do is you kill the children in secret and then make up some kind of cover story to make it look like you gave then an opportunity to work for you, or get out of this, but they ended up dying from their own mistakes/sacrificed by their family. Having the soldiers stay this excited and loyal after seeing the children dying, plus what I've read of the spoilers, does not bode well for the author's ability to write a cohesive story.

@Goldenzeal The old morals are mostly irrelevant though, that should've been clear from the moment he got transported. He also had a decade to adapt to the new world he lives in and to those settings.

Unless he could use his powers to enhance his own speed by a far margin, for which there wasn't any example so far, running away was never an option, they were surrounded, it was a very straight forward situation if you look at it. Neither were bargaining, as seriously, who the hell would trust the word of someone who literally just made a coup in such a brutal manner. That's just naive.

Maybe he can't op down everyone, and that's fine, but the ring leaders were right in front of him, and it was already proven that he can do something other than defending in a fighting situation, so he could've just done that, and it would be still a better option than trust those who already seems to be untrustworthy af, in "hope" for a peaceful solution.

Thing is, I was in a situation like that as well, and if I'd just stood there and let others to decide my fate, I wouldn't be here now, that's why I hate the naive coward approach and those who are vehemently defending it.

@LordFifthIsLife @Shakur

I looked at the raws too and yeah, just sucked. Dropping this already. I mean, I just started playing FF14 and there's a scene there that's just out of nowhere as this one but the writing was ten times better.

Or maybe I'm enjoying Shadowbringers too much. Idk.

I thought the prince told them to free him and adopt him into the family? Why the hell would he still have a slave seal? Can't it be removed?

I don't see a way out for him unless he can come up with a barrier to block magic signals. Maybe his earthly knowledge could come in handy here.

Wow this got retarded real fuckin quick, dude literally waits till his entire family is butchered to actually do anything. Literally watching as every single person is stabbed then devoured. What the fuck was the author thinking?
