Original WN, LN and manga based on them was such a fun read, and i like art style a lot, but it became such an ass after LN author went radio silent. Now it is a rushed convoluted unsatisfying mess. (I remember I absolutely lost my shit when hokuto no ken eskue road warrior skull head dude on a chariot with car tires showed up. Really the start of “wtf dude?”) What a shame.

The WN has been on hiatus for years now. The mangaka is doing his or her best to give an actual ending.
no everyone can constantly write a good story and produce volume after volume. sure there are author that keep producing volume after volume but there are also author that hitting dead end and keep hiatus.

"I am not a special person, i am just a different kind of human from an advanced space faring civilization, in charge of the remaining tech from my decimated fleet, who is at war with another space faring civilization who aims to consume us, you know, just a regular dude!"

Bugs are only interested in new technology to steal and eating their captives. Aside from magic, this planet has no real value. As they’re already having a good time trolling the rest of mankind, why would they bother with this backwater trash?
For drama, also otherwise the story wont happen

Also also, maybe magical humans are extra tasty, you know the mana probably gives them an exotic flavor, and when you get the hungies a good snack hits just right, even if you have to detour and drive away a few blocks, but some artisanal ice cream is worth the trip

Since it seems like the bugs are winning the war, why not?

thank you for translating
Looks more like the "goddess" is trying to restructure his body so it can cast real magic
those look more like magic circuits
of course machines wouldn't be able to understand it

I smell incoming axe this year
Finally got the axe. It's been a good run.
It's a miracle we got this far anyway.
No. You're getting your wires crossed. See that little green dot in the title's description? That means new chapters are still being published in Japan.

They might be trying to wind things up since the original author stopped writing new chapters, but this isn't getting axed. Instead, the manga's publisher (who owns the rights for adapting the story from WN/LN to manga) and the mangaka are working on giving this title a proper conclusion.

This is a good a point as any to end this story.

Show the planetary goddess curing him, say they she's an advanced AI created long ago to protect the planet, and that the bugs had invaded and left a presence on this planet.

Dragging this out any longer does disservice to how good the series was before it stopped following the wn.

As for the ending itself...passing the job onto the next generation is kind of generic, but I guess it's fine. "Cancerous nanomachines" is somewhat dubious, though at least it's more dramatic than Alan sitting the throne and then abruptly ending it there.
I actually lowkey wanted the cancer to be the start of the Bugs mutation. Tie it back to humanity actually been fighting with itself since primordial universe soup, Suisei no Gargantia style.

The little green dot on MD doesn't mean anything. Sometimes the series isn't updated as completed until the very last chapter drops. Which could be in two chapters for all we know (LHT already uploaded the next chapter).

Dude, stop trying to be That Guy. Seriously. Just stop.

I've rarely ever found the status indicator on titles here on MD to be wrong. There's only been two instances where I've had to report to the staff a correction. Once to report a series as being on hiatus, and another to let them know a series got cancelled instead of completed. (It was an incredibly brutal axe. Last chapter left off in the middle of a sentence, and then there was no more.)

And if a title that is marked as being in progress actually has been canceled, completed, or put on hiatus? Then you can hit that little flag icon on the title page and report it for "Information to correct".

Also, since you wanna be so goddamned pedantic about it, I just checked. The last release on Comic Walker was Chapter 60... OMG! JUST AFTER CHRISTMAS DAY? LAST YEAR? OH NO IT'S AXED!!!

Seriously, that's what these guys sound like right now.

So please, don't say or do anything that enables this lack of critical thinking. People might have a right to be idiots, but that doesn't grant any sort of special protection.

Dude, stop trying to be That Guy. The green dot tells us nothing about the mangaka's plans. We are absolutely allowed to make educated guesses as to how the series will go based on how it's currently going, the status of the WN, and past experience with other mangas. This is called gasp critical thinking! Ironically, you are the one shutting down critical thinking by saying we shouldn't think past the green dot/release status.

Now, is this seemingly rushed ending an actual axe or is it planned? It might be the latter given the lack of source material. Either way, it seems like it's moving unnaturally fast to a conclusion, which is generally an indication of an axed manga.
