I mean it's getting axed so I can't expect too much, but goddamn what a horrible way to end this story.
I feel like I got Monkey-paw'd here. I wanted him to finally talk to Cleria about his origins and this is how it happened.
Can you stop it with the "it's axed"? That joke got old many chapters ago.

This part of the story shouldn't even really exist and it doesn't in the novel.

The only reason it does exist is because the Manga was successful enough, so the Novel author together with the Manga team decided to tie the story knot somehow to it's end conclusion.

Personal opinion from here on out:
I'm gonna assume one of the reasons this is so rushed, is because it is mostly based on the Novel authors unrefined notes and ideas for the not yet realized future of the novel.

Fleshing out the story more is probably not in budget and it's the reason we are so wholly disappointed with the rushed developments.

Either the publishing company or the team did not want to take a hiatus to flesh things out, so this is what we get.

Oooh, sounds like we're gonna get a huge hundreds of years timeskip and zoom to the setup for the big conflict with the bugs and the cryosleep is how we're gonna follow Alan through it cause they'll wake him up before the bugs get there or something? I don't hate it.

I mean YES, but it still feels like a cop out. They can completely regrow limbs, so they should also be able to grow new organs. Whatever he has going on SHOULD be able to be fixed. Grow him a new body, swap his brain into it. I get that with such high technology it's difficult to put the protagonist into any real, permanent danger, but it feels cheap to just say they can't fix him.
See chapter 17. They can grow him a new body, but he is against it as it illegal and would get him court martialed.

I think the problem is that it is rapidly attacking his body. They even said in the story that it was climbing up through his spine, kind of hard to replace everything. But I like your idea of brain jarring him, but I think if they did that there would be issues with him being recognized as the Goddesses emassary that he wanted to avoid as he is trying to move the world to scientific instead of religious.

I really hope they kill Alan off. I think that would be a more interesting story. Maybe turn him into an AI like Iris, and time skip 300 years later when the bugs attack.

The worst thing to do, I think, is a soft reset: Alan goes into cryosleep, and wakes up 300 years later mysteriously healed. He gets to start all over again Iris.

It'd be interesting if he is cryofrozen until they can cure his disease, and when he awakens, his kingdom had completely forgotten why they were amassing power and he needs to regain political might to again prepare for the bugs - but he now no longer has the advantage of just automatically being stronger than everyone, as now everyone is a super soldier. :thonk:

Called it. If they were gonna kill Alan off, it would be in battle, protecting what he loves.

Well we know where this is going. A timeskip to Alan waking up in 1000+ years, and his descendants are going to get bogged down with retarded infighting and melodrama.

…Are they gonna repeatedly thawing and freezing bro over hundreds of years so he can make decisions on their plans and the situation they facing because the AIs cant really make decisions by themselves ?
Basically become a godly/prophet kind of figure.
So i guess the “assassin” chick might be from the future of this time line ? Some time travel fuckaroo might be involved here.

I hope we still get answers how his ship got destroyed in the first place, how the assains woman could interact with his technology, who the godess is, where the old artifacts on Ares came from, why the name of clerias Kingdom and alans empire are so familiar (ch45 translated to their language alans empire is called humanitys empire of starveek) and now where the bugs are coming from. Are all of them mutated humans?

Cold sleep, hiatus, abandoned, axed, etc2 :02: . Maybe this time they can do a bit more twist on the cold sleep tech, his conciousness/mind on a server helping out the nation and the body getting frozen in time. In time maybe he will relent in getting into a new body clone or something, hell he can jump between them.

somehow i'm getting some SAO vibes here, though i only ever watched the anime... timeskip to an galactic fleet situation, anyone? xd

if alan is removed from the equation that is this manga, i will likely very quickly loose all interest in the series as a whole, but i'm still optimistic this won't be happening, since Alan actually came in contact with that god~like~being and it might help him prevail, or at least i hope it will.
