Their hands are also movable in the past, the designs used by HASBRo were actually designs from dolls from the victorian ages, and uses plastic instead of wood, glass, or porcelain.
I think most were made of clay, cloth and wood, porcelain dolls were the high quality ones.n

The original Mr. Potato Head was just bunch of parts. (You were suppose to insert them into a real potato to play with.)
Dolly Parton famously played with a doll made from corn husks.

How much of a safety hazard were actual olden day dolls?
But for how dangerous depends on the toy and time period. Like hats being lead lined, and white makeup mixed with lead because they didn't know about lead poisoning.
Some toys were indeed dangerous. I rember a chemestry kit for kids that included real, potentially dangerous, chemicals. Handcuffs made of metal that needed a key to unlock.

How many peasants had to toil for years in the fields for her to afford this dress for a doll? Marie Antonette has nothing on this ducal family.
I think a doll's dress consists of, at most, a year's worth of labor in fabrics.
Assuming realistic productivity of 3 peasants to 1 worker (and not fantasy video game productivity of 1 town to 1 farmer), that means 3 peasants toil in the fields for 1 year for that dress. Assuming 1 dress per season, that would be just 12 peasant souls. A Russian aristocrat would be considered poor with just that few peasants.

(I feel I am overestimating how many people are needed to make those dresses)

How many Amazon employees had to toil for countless hours without being allowed a bathroom break for Bezos to afford his personal Lord of the Rings fanfiction costing $700M? The world is still the same, in the end.

I miss the figures from the 80's and 90's

The unsanded plastic joins left me and my sisters hands covered in cuts and every edge was a knife point

I wonder what that those guys were thinking, making the weapon actually sharp, it might as well be a dagger or a needle, not something for a child to be seen anywhere close with.
