don't know if anyone's replied with the correct answer yet, but it's because Kusunoki knows Moe likes him. And the last time that happened, she lost her two friends (one boy, one girl). Her girl friend liked the boy friend, but the boy friend liked Kusunoki. He confessed to her, she turned him down cause she never saw him like that and she knew the girl friend liked him. He got pissy cause she turned him down, and her girl friend got pissed cause she thought Kusunoki was going behind her back. I think the boy friend also spread some lies about her.
So she doesn't want to get in the way of Moe and wants to push Shizuki toward her. She also doesn't really have feelings for Shizuki, or at least hasn't realized she does.

Idr if it was that or trauma from her past where she got isolated cuz people thought she was "stealing" men away from them or some shit, basically jealous kids.

He seemed to fold a bit too quickly and it wasn't clear to me why he consented to the date. But oh well, this antagonist's involvement is the main thing that keeps the story more interesting than yet another generic romance, so it's fine with me in principle. Still not a great story overall (I think that other controversial childhood friend one where he fucks this delinquent girl did it better), but somewhat entertaining nonetheless.
