Hebikawa is the only interesting character. I'm rooting for her 🙏
You got that right. If this manga was supposed to be in the "Healing" genre like The Dangers in My Heart, its utterly failed in that regard with the MC's boneheaded actions. Snake bitch is the only thing making this an exciting read.

Not only that, I'm ready to say Hebikawa's not even the overarching villain in this story. All Hebi did was spout throwaway shittalk she can't even remember herself saying. Shizuki's the real villain here for being up his own ass and jerking poor Kusunoki around by disrespecting her time and good nature. If he keeps this up he deserves the Ghost of Cringe-mas Past he formed by clinging onto muh trauma for that long and learning nothing from powering himself up over spring break.

I have mixed feelings about this. No way the guy is this fucking dumb. He already knows she's not good with crowds yet still decided to leave her with it. He knows she's treating him as a friend but continuously pushes her away.

Trauma? Being "fat" and "ugly" is traumatic? Ok, sure. I might hate that one girl for saying that to me, but I would never treat other girls the same way I'll treat that girl. If someone who's like me, genuinely seems like they want to be friends with me, I have no reason to push them away or give distance that they'll feel isolated.

It's disrespectful to the other person's efforts to befriend me.
You've got to realize it's not just the perpetrator that is the problem. When someone says something it's the other dozen people who laugh along with them that's the real issue. While his "trauma" is pretty fuckin' dumb by outsider perspective, being a kid these little things can put huge dampers on your mental state for years. Most of us don't get a chance to resolve these traumas until years after school ends, but I'm glad the MC got to realize how stupid his issues were before too long.

Why do you think it's a joke that we all remember embarassing moments from middle school years later? That shit lasts.

I know this flashback is supposed to give us some insight about why Hebi is the way that she is but I'd be surprised if anybody's opinions changed because of it. Plenty of kids admire celebrities but if you aspire to be a perfect idol and then immediately turn into a manipulative snake after a bad confrontation it means you admired that because it's what you could never be.
