it is said that the time period was that of a fictional Tang dynasty but didn't fall and later evolved to a Late Ming to Early Qing but without the Yuan influences. Also, with the existence of chocolate, flintlock pistol, etc., it's most likely in the 17th-18th Century. Also, the Imperial Army in this timeline is somewhat 'antiquated' as they are still using melee weapons as their primaries and not muskets unlike European armies at this time. Heck, even Japanese and Koreans are users of muskets and better gunpowder-based weaponry in this period. TBH, I wonder why Jinshi didn't surrender that captured Feifa (flintlock pistol) and the imperial artisans/engineers tried to reverse-engineer it?

Most things in this story are very much historically sourced with slight exaggeration
