And no he's not "the only blabla" yes WE know he's the stories MC, but this "friend" doesn't, nor has he any reason to believe he's destined or whatever, just stronger than himself. In fact for friend guy to believe MC is far weaker than the threat against humanity is the logical conclusion since they read that ONLY the destined hero has a chance at victory.

And what do you mean already doing the job? He's been sitting around hoping that the hero will pop up nearby so he can check the situation in the hope that the world wont become chaotic, he's in no way committed to saving the world or anything, just himself and his friends like any normal person.

There's some manga (or maybe most of it?) that explain it.

You see, the demon king can't be killed "normally". He/she is just like a "disaster" (some manga explain it like that). To put down the disaster, higher being send out some "countermeasure" in the form of "Hero" or "Brave".

Now to the point, "Only Hero can kill the Demon King".

So no matter how strong you're, you can't kill the Demon King if you're not the "Hero". Even if your strength surpass that of the Demon King, if you don't have the "Hero/Brave Factor", you can't kill him.

Maybe this manga will use that kind of trope, giving our MC a kind of "teacher" role to that world's "Hero".
