The word "hero" in Japanese is literally translated as "Brave Man." But like in English, take the word "peacock." It's a bird, even if it's made up of two other words. In the same sense, "Braveman" is a single word meaning "Hero" in Japanese.

Thus the "brave factor." Without the brave, you just have a man, not a hero.

This elf calling human lives short all the time is no different from a rich person calling others poor all the time. At least with monetary comparisons it often leads to problems and increased salt content. And there is also no need to promote that difference unless it's very important in the discussion.

Since MC used to be a human, he should also remember at least something about being one and how time felt back then. Getting married or starting romance between individuals of big lifespan differences is problematic, however spending time or doing something together is not as long as feelings don't develop too much.

And, appears to be, of her feelings.

Did you prefer if he was "dense protagonist" type instead? Longevity is quite sad and terrifying topic, if you stop to think about for a moment. So he having a point.
yeah, it would definitely feel painful to outlive your own children and wife so I kinda like the way the mc knows that he will live long and that is why he was trying to distance himself.

who is arwen ?
Arwen from Lord of The Rings, a half-elf that fell in love with a mortal man (*he was kinda more like a demi-elf, but still not as long-lived as an elf or half-elf). She chose to be with him despite her father's protests, saying she'll stay faithful to him and watch over their family even after his passing.
