Before this thread starts to get filled by doomposting (please stop, I don't want Reddit 2), the plan is to keep both the new comments and the forums alive at the same time, with each having its own purpose.
Title and chapter comments on the new system, and general chatting and discussion here in the forums (so yeah, lurkers, you can keep lurking as you've been doing up until now).
It would be good to actually make the plans clear in the announcement and maybe clarify that in the "popup" so it trips up fewer people like me.Before this thread starts to get filled by doomposting (please stop, I don't want Reddit 2), the plan is to keep both the new comments and the forums alive at the same time, with each having its own purpose.

It does. It's how they're handling access to Feed as well. This was explained before, if I recall correctly.new features being first unlocked for supporters as "Group 1"
How long will this “test period” for the comment system last? Right now, only users with permission to comment can create forum threads.Yep, there's a button for it

Is there any way that the 'Create Forum Thread' button could be anywhere else? In my opinion, having it hidden behind those three dots will cause people (ie newbies) to never make forum threads, and instead just use the main site comment section. For chapters:

Exactly this. I was so confused because when I try to go to the forum, it opens a blocked comments section, and I can't start a forum thread either. How long will this “test period” for the comment system last? Right now, only users with permission to comment can create forum threads.
Not really sure tbf...How long will this “test period” for the comment system last?
Known issue that slipped past the filters... Will be fixed soon dwRight now, only users with permission to comment can create forum threads.
Taking a closer look, it seems that having comments under a conversation will cause the 'Read X older comments' thing to disappear, so you have to use the three dots I guess. EDIT: You could even put it where it would be if there was already a forum thread created.

Though I don't know if this popup would be pushed to the very bottom if the conversation was full of comments.
This so much. Annoying to have to go through the reader just to get to the forum thread.can we have 2 buttons?
one linking to the comments/ other directly linking to the forums?
so we don't have to go to the comments to get to the forum comments
