I've been enjoying this alot. I don't understand why people are hating on this. Drama is a staple in a romcom. If you doesn't want anything bad, go read those endless teasing Iyashikei series.

Mostly because it feels like super forced drama. Forcing the characters to be long distance, and Makabe just being a neglectful boyfriend while Aki feels bad just paints the entire cast in this unnecessarily bad light

This series didn’t need drama, or it could’ve been natural drama that comes with being long distance and not focused on a new character who’s only job has been to harass our lead and make him do stupid things

But let’s be real, we all would’ve been happy seeing our characters being happy and together while going through this new chapter of their life, plenty of series work well as slice of life and wholesome with minimal drama

Okay I just read the raw for chapter 9 and this is about to get EVEN worse somehow. Wtf is this writer even thinking about this is seriously worse garbage than the typical copy-pasta isekai smut.

Also I realize by looking at the stats that this manga is not getting a lot of traction. I am glad... I just want this piece of shit to be axed quickly with a forced rushed ending of them being happy together and forget about it ever existed...

In general yeah there's a lot of crap that crops up in such stories and I have seen terrible pairings happening with little to no build up, character development or explanation (I am looking at you Hataraku Maou sama). However specifically for this series, pairing Aki with someone else, after all the growth she went through and pairing Masamune with another girl after meticulously executing a plan, failing and falling in love in the process is simply jarring!
That is exactly what i believe, and when i think there is no way other than that will happening, the more i feel the opposite will happen, i pray everyday it's not like that this time

How dare this manga remind me how caring and supportive Masamune used to be about Aki before she left for Hokkaido, just to make a contrast about this suddenly spineless guy with the same name who breaks his promises, forgets to call his girlfriend and basically neglects her like she was the least important matter in his life. Character regression. :haa:

Well, at least from this chapter we can confirm Aki still has feelings for him and she won't be the one dumping him, for now. But I cannot see the same in his actions. It's like he's become far too busy chasing after various seemingly short-term matters and has lost sight of what's truly important to him. Even if he makes reasons like "I'm working hard to save up for a gift / I am studying hard to take over your family's company" it's all useless if the love is lost in the process because of his neglectful, practically disrespectful attitude to her. So he meets his goal, but at what cost?

I want to see him make up for all of this, but that debt is still growing and waiting to be paid off.

What do you guys mean??? Did we just read the same few panels?? She literally determined herself to keep him. The title is engagement. This is literally going for marriage. Am I the only person reading this that wants them to be happy together and understands that all those shenanigans are bait for a super cathartic ending were they get married?
That isn't the point the point is right now MC is a total dumbass for multiple reasons.

He's made so many mistakes even without the new girls presence, not Initiating any calls in over a year, not remembering anniversaries etc etc he's objectively a terrible boyfriend even without the girl involved

When you add the girl he's even worse, not being able to put his foot down and straight up tell her to get lost, we even see FMC do that herself so why can't he? Then letting the girl who's stated goal is to make you love her into your house?

The break up makes sense canonically even if the writer is heavily forcing it.

I call bullshit on your comment. While I do admit his behaviour with the new girl is inexplicable and completely not in keeping with the original Masamune that we were introduced to and saw developing as a character up to "after school", he was clearly being very supportive and kept encouraging behind the scenes as we were shown.

Is he an absolute duchebag for not shutting down the new thott?? Of course he is and that would have been a reason to be dumped and stay forever alone just by itself. But don't talk nonsense about how he was with her, it was shown how supportive he has been to her behind the scenes and he's clearly doing multiple jobs to buy her a ring not to mention that he will likely take over her company so she can focus on being a vet and appease her father.

Those are conjectures but it is painfully clear that this is where the manga is headed and why he's doing those things.

And this is manga not real life. He's inexcusable for allowing her to kiss him, allowing her to pursue him and for giving her an effing place to stay overnight. But this manga should have never existed in the first place, it should have ended with after school. But since it exists the only two acceptable endings for this is are: a) Aki x Masamune married together or b) everyone stays alone.
