@bradek could be that the station is in fact low-grav? after all, 1 g is fucking hard to get to structurally (stresses, go talk to civil engineer)

if station is very low grav then the carbon content that could remain in a soda is probably negligible at best...

edit: and btw, i have drunk my fair share of sparkling cider; when it loses the carbonation, any soda goes from pop-fizzly refreshing to literally just sugar water. though, you don't need to take my word for it, you can try yourself.

That is a good point. They clearly do have artificial gravity technology on the ships, but the energy required for that and the expense of putting in a whole station would probably be waaaaay too much to be worth it when just a touch of adaptation in goods and behavior is all that's required. Anyway, this also means that while transporting carbonated water is possible, it wouldn't last long enough to sell anyway once on a space station.

I know, right!

Glasses and glass bottles, and let's not forget about the whole 'home like' furniture.

The setting of this manga is great but they ruin that with the inside of the ship is a death trap if something happens and somebody is there.

Flat Soda 😅
Maybe he can either commission someone like that company that sold him the new kitchen appliances to make him a carbonator unit for free in return for the idea. I'm 3000% certain that they already have the technology to make compressed gases. You know. Rocket propellants and LOX and etc.

Even if that's "illegal", just get some Dry Ice. That's how I made my 💯% Grape Soda.

Oh. Does this also mean they don't have BEER in that universe?? 🤔😛🤔

and so, the coca cola saga has begun... if this gets an anime and it isnt sponsored by the coca cola company........ XD
It would be hilarious if they did and someone complained about product placement. They would be both right and wrong at the same time.

And I thought Pizza Hut was ingenious in their anime product placement campaign... Coca-Cola doesn't even need to pay for it.

Then you have McDonald's, which can be misnamed to the nth degree to avoid trademark infringement and still get the free advertising.

Makes me wonder what other companies out there were really clever or successful in regards to product placement, regardless of intention.

Going back and re-reading this and remembering this guy is on the hunt for carbonated soda reminds me:

While having carbonated soda is a fucking nuisance in micro-gravity (NASA has experimented with carbonated Pepsi/Coke set-ups and dispensers/cans/bottles since the 1980s, none of them worked very well and it affected the taste and consistency negatively in the soda), it isn't a problem with artificial gravity or anti-gravity like what you see here.

Also, even if it was somehow still a concern, you could work around it by not utilizing carbon dioxide - use nitrogen instead.

Now it DOES change the flavor sensation of the soda and texture/feel (sometimes for the better in my opinion with Pepsi Nitro or canned Guinness; I was really surprised by how much Pepsi changed just with using nitrogen instead and it was pretty damn good), there are drinks that use nitrogen for fizz instead of carbon dioxide. It tends to make much smaller bubbles, be much less volatile than CO2 and be more "foamy" than "fizzy" like traditional carbonation. It is more creamy and, depending on the soda, can actually taste and feel even better to drink.

Some citrus sodas like 7UP or Mountain Dew or something I can't imagine being fantastic with it. But Coke? Pepsi? Dr. Pepper? Sunkist/orange sodas? Root beer? Absolutely. And it would be much more manageable in micro-gravity than CO2.

I know that if I got isekai'd and soda didn't exist I'd probably go fucking insane slowly but surely until I could make it myself or find it, so I identify with Takahiro here.

Also, from what I remember reading, Pizza Hut did pay for product placing in Code Geass, but at some point the animators had fun with placing as many placements as possible with it and it being an in-joke which is why there's a hilarious amount of it. So even Pizza Hut was surprised at the amount of product placements that they did.
