Man, that's an even bigger red flag than the guy who wanted Sakura to remain in the kitchen, but since I saw you reply later to another post, I believe you simply didn't realize the implications of what you just said.
Now, as far as what we saw in the chapter go, the problem with the guy wasn't so much what he intended to do (everybody should have someone to protect them and/or to protect), but the reasons he gave as to why he wanted to protect her: to him, she was
inferior. The guy was mysoginistic not in the "I despise women" but in the "they're just a bit above pets and should behave as such" (not to mention kinda egocentric as in "my shit is fucking golden"); he didn't want to protect Sakura because he liked her, because she was cute or because she needed it (and boy does that absolute dork need it, he was simply stating that, as a female, he could provide for her so she shouldn't be doing anything other than look pretty and care for his needs, hell, she could even go a step beyond and be grateful for his magnanimity, that way she can stop doing pointless stuff like bettering herself, receiving an education or even thinking.
Now, for some, this may actually be a good thing (hell knows I've known my fair share of female Kevins), but for Sakura, someone who prides herself on the sweat and tears she has shed over the years in order to arrive where she has and whose only desire is to become self-sufficient, this goes beyond offensive and goes into personally insulting, made even worse by the fact that the jerk in front of her wasn't even trying to insult her but simply "stating a fact" and "putting her in her place".
It wasn't that he didn't notice her feet being hurt or her being cold because of being unattentive or uncaring, he didn't notice those things because he simply wasn't looking AT Sakura, he didn't care about her as a person, much less care about what she wanted or truly needed.
As for our best-boi fighting her battles... it wasn't so much as having him fight her battles, but more of him being unable to stand it anymore and stepping in to defend his friend's honor, something most of us would have done had we been in his place. Besides, if she had actually fought that battle, she would have likely lost her biggest patron and scared away the remaining ones (sad reality of today, where we have to bend over for absolute idiots simply because they have friends or family in high places).
Simply want to clarify one last thing: You are not wrong in what you wanted to say, you simply weren't looking at the full picture and took it at face value, whereas I had to take into account external output (personal experiences plus random knowledge) and take into account the character's personalities and circumstances.
