Can't exactly react to killing intent when you're already dead the instant you perceive it now, can you?

Takatou just gets hate sinks as opponents, so that the audience gets instant gratification when he executes Order 66 on them, which is more or less the point of the series.
At least Shiki (both of them) need to actually work for their kill, which is where the focus of the audience is directed to whenever they kill things.

From what it seems like based on his reactions when he kills someone, it seems to 'deaden' him from emotion at the time. I don't want to know what he would end up being like if he simply killed without care. Could be the reason why he holds back as often as possible.

BTW if his ability is to 'kill anything' then depending on how you spin it, couldn't he "kill off any undesirable future". So something like "kill off any future timeline that includes my death". This is probably stretching it a lot lol.
