Newest Law January 2021 in Japan

hey apparently i found issue that every pirate site will sweep in october and 2021 japan will officially ban / sued them. It will not only apply in manga but anime site as well. Will it Affect Mangadex too or, idk what do you think??

MD is not a lamer "aggregator" where they just fill the site with ads and reupload the works of scanlators, even official english scans, so no, MD is not the same as KM and moreover they do not take advantage and generate profit using other people works. MD is just a service of scanlators and unlicensed manga.

just think of MD as Facebook for scanlators and such.
Facebook is full of scammer, but do they go down because of it? no. the least could happen there is the scammer taken out by the law.

i hope it also does affect MangaDex as well.

The worst that could happen is MD will be forced to remove all copyrighted titles and we'll be left with pixiv and twitter comics. _{just my guess.}

Well it makes sense, i just hope ur right, it just bother me about the newest law. But i guess some country already do the same about this law and we all know the result.

The law can and will mostly affect Japan. Also, this is a revised law and that mean anime have been apart of it for almost a decade. Just think it like the situation about FBI and porn. Already have Law against it but it still exists.

There will always be manga "pirate" sites. Even in they unlikely event they take down all normal ones, how are they going to go after p2p sites like ZeroNet's Alotofplot/Anthology/PomfPomfMoe/ManhwaHub/etc. ? There is no server to take down, there is no owner to sue, there's just a bunch of weird anonymous addresses (assuming you use Tor).

@Baronoflight just downloading, not uploading and outside of japan? very unlikely to be whacked by the law. Even if your country's legal system could be convinced to act (which is unlikely), i doubt they'd go after small time stuff.
