He forced Magary to go to the capital and be a saint, so he himself is forced to be the hero. It never would have happened if he just let her run away. Like, he literally only met the sword because he forced her to go to the capital.

And sure, he's forced to work, but remember, it basically grants him a high amount of protection, so he's overall safe. And it's karma because he skipped work and tricked(scammed) other people into working for him without realizing it... so now, he is forced to work.

And if it wasn't for the sword, he'd have been dead.

So TL;DR He forced his childhood friend to be a saint, he ends up forced to be a hero. He was lazy and scammed people into working for him without realizing it, and he is now forced to work for others. It's just karma.

@deathmailrock If he lets her run away, the knights most likely would've skewered the whole village. Remember how they acted when they thought they'd hide Magary? Alaister did a solid for them as well, even if it was unintentional, so the karma doesn't stand here a 100% Also, she was chosen to be a Saintess regardless, because of her innate powers.

@Istvan90623 Nah, he probably wasn't going to really harm them (he's a good dude), he was just over acting. Our boy just wanted her to suffer. That was literally it.

Hell, even if she was caught, if he himself just left her alone none of this would have happened.

It literally happened solely because he involved himself in the situation. He should have just let her run. But he didn't. He trapped her himself and forced her to go. And it was literally because of his own actions that he ended up the hero.
