I know the annoying “rival” (more like comic relief character but I’m not laughing) is standard for romance stories for conflict but I hate them each & every time, because they usually don’t grow from their “gimmick” they’re just annoying & antagonize the lead, that’s it.

The obsessively jealous lesbian character obsessed with FMC, who sells at MC for no reason. Unfailingly unfunny and deeply annoying.
I've slowly grown to hate this trope, because the author usually dials their personality to the extreme. It's even worse when they also make them ridiculously perverted then justifies it with "She's a woman so it isn't creepy".

I feel like there would’ve been pictures of that day, wouldn’t that solve the issue?

She's a huge hypocrite
Exactly this.
The "psycho lesbian" trope is frustrating to see, especially today, but it doesn't mean that the character will be a bad character.

Here, we've got a big hypocrite who project on the main character and is to much of a coward to at least try to know the object of her "affection" better...
Also doing false accusation on other people is always a big NO, man, woman, children, I don't care, don't blame people for shit they didn't do...

The highlight of this chapter is Rihito being able to call her out on that. With him being more of a "Let's just stay silent until they leave me alone" kind of guy, it's nice to see him being vocal about people having the wrong impression about his relationship with Noa.

The woman coworker is way too much like that woman coworker from "Bijin Onna Joushi Takizawa-san". The constant fussing and thinking the worst of the mc is annoying

Where did this garbage trope come from, and why is it still alive?
I feel like it happens quite frequently in romcom manga where it has a unique cast and is played for laughs. Komi-san was an early one, where they introduced Yabai and I think people's perceptions of her only got worse when
she kidnapped Tadano
and ended up overstaying her welcome.

TBF, Oda quickly figured out she goofed, dialed her back a whole lot and then split her off into a pararomantic relationship with Nakanaka, a type of thing i didn't see happening here anytime soon, though.

what's the appeal? Were people getting so desensitised to romance tease-mangas like Dagashi Kashi and Takagi-san that they seek out even less stimulation from friendzone manga?
You only thought to ask this to yourself after 39 chapters?

I read the manga synopsis then skimmed through the first 2 chapters then skipped to the most recent to see if it was the same then left my comment on the most recent one so that more people would see it.

One of the worst types of characters, but also so freakin common it's ridiculous. Love Rihito's reactions though.
