@maibi question from non-native English speaker: on page 13 you used "I cried" in regards to Tsumiki quoting herself. Is it used there as a similar in sense verb to "screaming"? And why this one?
It's used in a lot of English literature as meaning 'loudly proclaimed with great emotion' - nearly the same as 'yelled', except it implies you are more emotionally moved.

So:
  • 'I yelled': I said it very very loudly, bellowed, shouted
  • 'I screamed': I yelled it while very very afraid or angry
  • 'I cried': I yelled it with great emotion (can involve fear, anger, sorrow, but also positive things)
  • 'I exclaimed': I said it loudly with great excitement, but not as loud as yelling.
Of course there is some confusion of 'I cried' with 'I wept' but English is very inconsistent.

More along the lines of shouting than screaming. While both would refer to being loud, screams are generally sharper sounds and often related to distress, while shouts are generally just loud and often related to excitement.

TL Here - wow, some peak lewdness (and cuteness) this chapter, glad to see we're back to Tsumiki x Yutaka.

If I mixed up 'Yutaka' (the guy) and 'Yukata' (what they're wearing) anywhere, I apologize, I caught myself using the wrong one at least once, very easy to do (even Tsumiki thinks it's funny). It's like trying to get desert/dessert right after you stare at them too long.

Also, I am on vacation and we have very spotty internet. So - sorry with such a cliffhanger, but we might be a little delayed from late TL next week. I'm hoping not, and am definitely going to get whatever I can done (already got the raws) but can't promise anything at this point. It'll be my fault. But we WILL get this out, even the RDs (having seen the raws) are going 'GEE I WISH WE KNEW WHAT THEY WERE SAYING hint hint'.

Ah, so "I cried" is with an emotion(any, basically) not the emotion(of distress variety), gotcha, thx.

Yutaka is obviously very conscious of Tsumiki at this point, but I wonder if she's conscious of him.

We're so used to manga/anime spelling these things out super hard with blushing that 'subtle' attraction is often completely non-existent. It's either there or not there. Tho this is also a bit cultural, since in JP relationships don't transition friends-sorta dating - full on dating as organically as in the west, but has all the funny stuff with confessions and being super formal about 'becoming an item'.

The way Tsumiki acts in this chapter, without the context of my prev paragraph, I would assume she is at this point turbo into him and trying to maximally spend time together, get closer etc. However, Yutaka also said before the break that he wanted to spend time with everyone during the break so the mangaka has the groundwork to say Tsumiki was just looking out for her dear friend and making sure he gets his 'social fix' without any romantic ulterior motives. I really wish she did have such motives tho, since that'd be far far closer to reality and if anything - fantastic 'girl making the move without waiting for the guy' sorta thing that is always lovely to see.

What trope?
The one where one side tries to confess their love, only to be interrupted by loud fireworks.

For some reason, in English, one of the meanings of the word "cry" is "scream". And it's the only one that fits in the context.

Her usage of the tail restrainer here is kinda goofy. In chapter 1 she explains that she uses it because she wants to use a human skirt, not a beastman tail-hole skirt, so she uses the restrainer (basically to keep her from lifting her skirt up). But here she's clearly wearing a yukata with a tail hole in it, so why is she still wearing a tail restrainer? Unless the answer is just "it's become her fashion at this point", it seems kinda pointless now lmao, especially since it looks like it's on some cord coming from the ribbon, which I can only assume would flail around a bit.

Ngl after dropping her ear plugs I thought this would be where they would watch the fireworks together but with Yuta covering her ears with his hands
Reminds me of doggos getting spooked by new year's fireworks.
