The way it ended with Junko just casually leaving her to a certain death but not actually making sure that she was dead basically told you that she wasn't actually dead. I doubt she joins Hinako though. She has zero morals and doesn't seem to care to learn any. I imagine she's going to be a wildcard chaotic evil character.

I tried to make clear the series is continuing because your impression was the same for the Japanese audience. This bit backfired really hard on the mangaka. There was a lot of damage control by the mangaka and the publisher to announce it wasn't meant to feel like the story was ending.

With how many good mangas got axed it's no wonder ppl got this impression

Basically the afterword was meant to be interpreted as “Thank you for supporting Part 1, a lot of things will change drastically for now on but please keep supporting the story as we start Part 2” but poor word choice and phrasing made it sound like the manga was ending
