Don't like that the manga dumped the backstory in chapter 1 instead of slowly drip feeding cute little moments from their childhood to build up depth in their relationships bit by bit. When you dump it all in one go as they did in the past ch, now it's hard to empathize with how deep their relationship really is. Lacks the setup.

I do think this manga has a slightly more original angle with how he is clearly aware of her feelings and just won't reciprocate. As most noted, it's most likely going to be due to social status. The question is whether they go the pure SoL comedy route of just endless chapters of her setting up ridiculous romantic situations OR if they do drama route with dissecting exactly why he can't overcome the status thing. If it's the former - this will be a pretty funny light-hearted manga for Monday blues. If it's the later - this will be a trainwreck, because that narrative has been done to death and really doesn't have much weight unless the author is insanely good. And if this author was insanely good, the first 2 ch would look very differently.

It seems fun but I hate characters like her. Someone should remind manga authors that they use a visual medium. "Show, don't tell" should be easier to do, but they dump things on the reader like "perfect grades, great physical abilities, the best person in the world" and DON'T SHOW IT.

As many others have said the 'If it weren't for me...' line does open a lot of possibilities. Does it mean he is aware and feels he is unfit or inadequate for her (maybe due to status)?
Does he feel guilty that because he's close to her, she can't get the romance she deserves?
Does he feel that he's selfishly taking advantage of being close to her for his own sake, while ruining her chances of romance or getting closer to others?
Yeah it is unclear what exactly he thinks of her but it is basically certain he is at least acutely aware of how she feels or knows how close they are to the point she is not close with others.
