If he releases the video her life is basically ruined though, in the west having such video release is already bad but in Asia it's even worse due to cultural differencesEh, no, he’s totally wrong. All Hanabi had to do when Kirigaya first started blackmailing her was go to the police. Even if he released the video, he’d just be incriminating himself further.
And now he’s gone and confessed everything to a third party. They’re in public, all Fumi has to do is make a scene and call the cops. But like I said, she won’t, because that would make too much sense and completely break the author’s idiot plotting.

Is this the final arc or is there more after this?Eh... this is still an adaptation of the LN; the manga is now covering the second volume.
Sorry, I can't accept the argument that it's better for Hanabi to prostitute herself than risk the video of Souma, when he was a kid, being released online. What Kirigaya has is essentially child pornography. Not only is possessing that material a serious crime, but distributing it would make things far worse for him.If he releases the video her life is basically ruined though, in the west having such video release is already bad but in Asia it's even worse due to cultural differences
Reputation and not shaming your family / ancestors is infinitely more of a big deal in Asia so it doesn't matter if by releasing the video he goes to jail or whatever cause he still ruined her and her family, that's why what looks like dumb blackmail to us could work in Asia
Unfortunately no, it’s not the final arc, and believe it or not, the story is going to get worse. Here’s a general spoiler of what’s to come:Is this the final arc or is there more after this?
Yeah, but that’s not the same thing. In that stalking case, the police had to predict future danger. They failed, and it was awful. From what I’ve read, 43 officers were punished over it. But here? First off, Hanabi subjecting herself to sex trafficking instead of going to the police to protect Souma is surreal. If the video leaks, that sucks, but Kirigaya goes to prison for possessing and distributing child pornography. Souma survives. She survives.to be fair aparently in Japan, police for these matters are a joke.
They dont do a damn thing unless they rly hurt you.
thats why there was that case the girl was reporting every shit a stalker did and sent to her to the police evety single time and they did nothing.
Her last msg a live was sending a report to the police saying the guy was outside her appartment but they couldnt do anything unless he did anything worse.
.... well she died.
She spent all that time following him. All she had to do was show up with her phone, recording audioJesus fucking Christ, this writing is WAY beyond stupid. The motherfucker really just confessed to everything, unbelievable… All Fumi has to do is make a scene and call the cops, but she won’t, because the author can’t let anything work with common sense. Otherwise, the whole story falls apart. This is idiot plotting at its absolute finest. Seriously, I can’t believe an editor read this and approved it. It’s stupefying.
Thanks for the chapter!
You are ignoring completely the social pressure on the victims that exist in Japan, why this is even a thing there.Yeah, but that’s not the same thing. In that stalking case, the police had to predict future danger. They failed, and it was awful. From what I’ve read, 43 officers were punished over it. But here? If the video leaks, that sucks, but Kirigaya goes to prison for possessing and distributing child pornography. Souma survives. She survives.
And now Kirigaya has just confessed, out loud, in public, with the evidence on his phone. That’s not a “maybe he’ll do something” situation. That’s a “we got him” situation.
Even shitty police can act on that. You don’t need a great detective. You just need one cop who can say, “You just admitted to a crime. Give me your phone.” And Fumi is right there as a witness. So that real-life example doesn’t save the plot. It’s tragic, but it’s not the same thing.
Fumi still has no excuse. The author still wrote everyone like idiots. So no, “police are a joke” doesn’t fix anything here.
