After doing a quick search into the history of Brunhilde and Siegfried, there seems to be a story of Brunhilde letting someone marry her if they can prove they are stronger and have great qualities. Siegfried accepts this challenge and successfully wins her heart, but turns out he was doing this for someone else and Brunhilde ends up killing him.

there are many different myths on brunhilde and siegfried some versions also go by sigurd and brynhildlr.
this is the just nbelungenlied. version there is the richard wagner version called the ring of nebelion where brunhilde is a valkyrie.

The Volsunga saga and Peotice Edda had Brunhilde in love with sigurd (aka norse siegfried)

Yeah, wasn’t gonna do a full deep dive but assumed there were many different stories that vary in how the characters are portrayed. Nice to know though. Wonder how the mangaka will incorporate it in this story.
