A scrap rate of 5% for a normal machine shop is consider absolutely terrible, let alone 40%. Although there cases where a double digit scrap rate is 'acceptable'. Like wartime emergency, in WWII the STG44 had a scrap rate around that rate around 40%, I think the russians also had a similar scrap rate for the ppsh (I could be thinking of something else they made, so don't quote me on that).
the nazis were getting their ass handed to them and obviously a 40 was definitely bad but the stg was the least of their problems late war

Heat + water in a confined space can make pressurized steam.
That can be used to turn wheels and gears.
What we have with this little water heater is possibly the first step to building a steam engine in the future.
Combine that with a propeller and your ships no longer need to rely on wind and sails.
Or lay some track on land and suddenly you can move goods and people a lot faster than your neighbours with your trains.
Any of that could have major military and social implications.
Or even as it is, scaled up just a little, he has a room heater that doesn't fill rooms with soot from burning wood.
A potential sale item in a northern country that has a lot of snow.
the ancient greeks thought it was just a toy

I agree with this wholeheartedly. There's a massive difference between something like "Onii-chan", "Onii-sama", "Aniki", and "Aniue" for example that "Brother" or "Older Brother" just doesn't convey.
Off topic but it reminds me when Senukin translates their comics all the Vietnamese kinship terms get replaced with Japanese ones for stupid reasons which is very annoying and is equally bad. This is a bad precedent for obvious reasons. There are in fact nuances for specific kinship terms also present no matter how tempting it is to replace anh with "onii-san".
