And during the war there are estimates that 10 plus million foreign nationals were used in prison labor camps. Which also included state sponsored brothels that used civilian women as sex slaves.

So it's not so much them shoehorning slavery into every isekai, it's how Japanese view medieval society through the lens of their own history.

Not really that deep slavery was just a commonality during the actual mideveal times ALL over the world people like to pretend it was only the certain race of people they don't like when really every society once had slavery back in the day some were just quicker at getting rid of it while some STILL have it under the guise of something else.
