Oh the sentences are "complete" for conversation/dialogue - it just seems to turn out that way because of the translation and the intended humor

phrasing can be misunderstood when there's lack of context

the mistake of Mobuyuki was not knowing that people who are black out drunk may not recall what they did last night

besides, the misunderstanding was resolved immediately and it never became a major plot device which is the kind that you probably hate
