So she was removed from her parents and put into an institution, where she was groomed and sexually exploited by a guy in his 50s. She took her own life when she was 14. The guy is now working in another country with a similar job.
Yeah. Institutions sadly don't always work out that well. I think there's just as much a chance of it making things worse as helping out honestly. Especially since a lot of kids who haven't been into drugs yet usually get introduced to them in institutions.

NGL, as someone who's been a fan of Sasha for 10+ years, and has even met Haguhagu IRL once (Though my favorite work of his is the Bosako SFW artwork series; I love Bosako 1 so much I even have an extra STILL sealed copy), the reactions to these chapters have been super entertaining.

And that's after I started warning people over a year ago and was one of the first to post about what happened in Vol. 3 , with others eventually adding warnings to almost every chapter thread. So I never thought Sasha would get such a strong reaction from the Western fandom. (Though I did got some stuff wrong since the raws I downloaded were , fr some reason, missing pages on some chapters.)

It really is so damn weird how much people care about the moral implications - or personal 'value' - of the past sex lives of... anyone, really, but especially fictional characters. I imagine it's difficult to live life when one can be angered so easily.

Shoseki sales.
The only time it ranked on weekly was the first volume, and then it ranked at 240 with about 2920 sales. Later volumes haven't sold enough to reach the weekly rankings. Comic-walker popularity doesn't really matter at that much, the Reptile girl manga I worked also ranked fairly well on comic-walker and nico nico seiga and still got axed because of low sales.

Kawaii Reptile was so dead on arrival that it never made it to Shoseki or Oricon in any way, not even in the daily counts if I'm not wrong. It also had no presence on digital platforms despite doing fairly okay in online rankings. Even then, when compared to Sasha's numbers, they were worse, putting them in a much more precarious situation than Sasha was ever in from the start.

Thing is, Sasha’s strength has never been explosive first-week physical sales; if it had relied on those, the manga would’ve been canned by Volume 2 because even the performance between Vol 1 and Vol 2's release was already concerning. Instead, its strength has always been in slow-burn sales fueled by Haguhagu’s constant advertising push through the sheer volume of material he creates on Twitter, FANBOX, consistent merchandising efforts like raffles and giveaways, on top of all the NSFW stuff he makes and events he goes to, which keeps Sasha in people’s minds, and on digital sales, which at a surface look on digital platform, they seem to be doing enough to keep the manga afloat across the board.

I’m not saying this manga is a stellar seller, or that it couldn't be canned at any point, because that's just how the industry is, but it also has everything it needs to sustain itself for a while. The fact that it's already on track for a volume 5 release with no sign of slowing down, along with consistently topping online rankings despite all the drama and controversial chapters, like this whole volume 3, is very telling.

This seems to be the overall meta nowadays outside of the super popular magazines, and what has worked well for many modern mangakas. Of course, I could easily be wrong, but in general, Shoseki never tells the whole story
