I don't really keep up with the drama here but...
Are you actually complaining that you get hate?
It's the internet, yes there's hate everywhere, why are you looking for a safe space?
What does manga have to do with any of this? If you see hate just close the browser tab why make all this drama...
Much respect to several of the groups on the list btw. But just bitching about hate on the internet is retarded.

It is clear that many of the lines shown were in a response to something. and I believe that those statements they are responding to are important to their full meaning. Not only that but these Statement haven't been kept secret, it's not like you've taken secret communications and brought them to light. These are statements made openly for all to see from the moment they were made if people where in the right place or even now went to where they were made.

How is anyone defending MD right now. They're making money off scanlators doing work, while admins like @Holo are mocking them for having patreons which helps scanlators keep working and surprise - these scanlators are what got MD popular in the first place.

Some scanlator groups are fucking babies I swear.

You know, I manually moved 1200 manga from other aggregator sites to MD because I thought groups deserve all the credits they can. As a scanlator myself, I understand the work being put in and can relate to shit that happen with the drama once every while.

But these kind of moves are making me considered it differently. Getting mad over snipes, getting mad over lost donation, getting mad over some fantasy of MD stealing everything, can you all calm down and stop being selfish. In the end, you guys don’t even own shit besides the literal translation on the pages. You don’t even own the art. It’s like people who makes mods talking about how they own the games themselves. What a joke.

All you’re doing is hurting the readers AND yourself. When people move back to Kissmanga or whatever, they won’t even bother about your credits or your patreon. I myself never did, until I started doing typesetting myself that I realize “these manga have groups doing them”. Kinda ironic that you all are pulling from a site that would credit and even delay chapters even at the readers’ inconvenience, all for the scanlators. Sure, if that’s your mindset then feel free to leave. It’s also nice that this thing is “signed” so I know which group to not support anymore.

If all you care about while doing scanlation is the Internet karma or the profitable money, then just stop. Go find a real job. At the end of the day, that’s all some scanlators care about. In my opinion, if you’re not doing this out of passion and introducing people to new manga, then you don’t deserve anything from us. Greedy morons.

Here’s an advice: Grow up.

MDex admins: Look at these guys they have patreons, clearly it's all about he money.

Also MDex admins: Refuse to disclose how much they receive in donations, and now have a shop opening up. https://mangadex.org/shop

I think the lady doth protest too much.

Because the groups bailing are claiming MD is gunning for money, but it's all too easy to guess that they're using this as a reason to pull out while claiming moral high ground and push ad revenue on their own sites up.
It's a smear campaign. MD is very well aware that they will likely take a huge hit in userbase if they go legit, but they have a half-way decent system in place and if they believe they can compete with 'FREE' then power to them.

@boont You say that like there aren't a dozen aggregator sites that aggressively make ad revenue while posting works without the knowledge or consent of the scanlators. What got MD popular was that it was better than those sites, and a lot of the people complaining don't seem to realise just how good they've had it with this site compared to its "peers."

It’s been known for awhile MD wanted to go legit. This unionization of scanlators against MD seems to have comes from nowhere. Good luck with your endeavors, unfortunately weird flex but ok.

@boont it would not be very bright to donate to MD because it is scanlating your fav manga.
Normally you donate to MD because it provides a stable(!) ad-free platform for scanlators and readers.

whew, between this and shenmue 3 the internet drama machine is working overtime. unfortunate that people want to abandon what i see as a perfectly viable platform for hosting scanlations, but hey to each their own.

"mangadex Just dont care about us, they Just want profit"
So they Said, while the team behind the site was trying to help scanlation groups, even making exceptions for them.
Well, If they want to move to other sites that dont give a s* about them, leave em be.
But they gotta put that drama out there, dont they?

People do realise that the Scanlation groups have their own websites need to pay hosting fees and domain fees? Also while I know a lot of people do the work behind translating these peices of work into other languages for free, others are paid to do so because they might be relying on that little bit of money to get by.

Either way for MD to ignore these groups getting harassed is not on, especially when they are putting so much time and work on the series to provide the readers with. MD could have avoided this by simple listen to those groups and tried to help them!

I mean... Isn't it too late to leave?
Even if you are against MD I don't think it's not gonna change anything now.

@TheOneWhoSighs
This has been made public in various places on Discord, though I thought it would have been posted on here. Guess not.

We don't disclose donations because CloudFlare has threatened to kick us to the curb due to publisher DMCAs. I'd like to note that publishers C&D'd Meraki some time back and they make more than us in monthly donations through Patreon alone.

This is pure speculation on my part, but maybe if we are able to transition fully to the Path.net services, we can be more transparent about our donations without having to worry about losing DDoS protection.

I dunno what to tell the people who think we secretly profit off of readers. You either believe or us don't since we're unable to provide data at this time. But if you ask me, I'd rather trust the site that has put its money where its mouth is (lol) and not put up ads in a naked scheme to profit off of scanlations.

Edit: I apologize. I was repeating something @Plykiya said and got confused regarding CF. Here is @Holo's clarification:
There are two main reasons why we don't disclose:

1. If a publisher can place an exact value to it, they will feel that they are losing said value. That is why Meraki got hit with a C&C, because the publisher got them. If we don't give them an opening, they will most likely decide we're not worth it.
2. People who are obsessed with transparency won't stop harassing us about donations even after we've disclosed. They'll want itemized billing every month and accuse Holo of being frivolous with the money.

And once again:

@Theobane The thing is, if you want a "little bit of money to get by," you ask for donations on the credits pages or such. You don't open up a Patreon unless you actually want to make money off what you're doing.

Here's a hot take: If these people think their work is good enough to make money off of, they should be applying to work for manga licensees. Even if they don't get hired, the act of applying would show how serious they are. How many of the people opening up these Patreons have done that?
