I am very disappointed in this ship’s captain. The cargo hold is practically empty. Yeah maybe he sold all his goods in the last city but he should’ve picked up more goods to sell at His next stop. His inefficiency is disappointing

Shows sheet with lots of practice. Gets embarrassed about someone mentioning that he's practicing hard. Come on.

And they said the captain was greedy. If he really was that greedy, he'd fill it over capacity and hope for calm weather.

...How long this sht will continue? im still irritated about his memories getting erased the bitch is still alive and well Clara's getting worried and sht
While having an arc where he loses his memory is fine and all, they're mostly just stomping around with it and delaying, and not exploring more of it.

Ships can't actually cram their hold full of cargo, that empty space is what keeps the ship from sinking. If they tried to load a ton of cargo into the hold then they'd end up with the deck barely above the waterline, and then they'd be taking on water whenever they get hit by a wave. On larger vessels, they can afford to keep more in the hold because they'll have other spaces set aside for lodging, living and working spaces, which would end up accounting for most of the required buoyancy, but the ship here looks to be on the smaller side with most or all of the hull being taken up by the cargo hold. Such a design isn't necessarily bad, while they cannot fully load the hold with heavy goods, they are left with loads of space for lighter goods such as barrels or individually packaged fineries (eg, jewelry or fine cutlery) and should be able to sail quite quickly.

Also, while the captain is supposedly greedy, that doesn't mean he'd be constantly loading up with everything he could possibly sell, he could be the type that specifically buys up exotic goods that can be offloaded elsewhere for a significant fortune, and forgoes filling the rest of the hold with common merchandise in favor of faster sailing speeds to minimize the amount he needs to spend on provisions.

Sure, but it looked much too empty. For that to take up enough weight to reach the limit it'd have to be very heavy, like metal or ore. It's a double rigger, so I wouldn't count that as "on the smaller side".

I'd chalk it up to the artist not being familiar with ships. It's not like the artwork in this series is particular stellar. Fairly simple (which does have the benefit of making it very clear, although action isn't great), and a lot of obvious CG art assets.

That's a point, though wouldn't he just use a faster ship that's more optimal for his purposes in that case?

I know no one cares but I don't know if its a burn out or what but probably gonna end up dropping this manga soon depending on how much longer this arc continues. Getting really tired of this current arc its been going on so long for way to long. Doesn't help that the amnesia has soft reset the MC so I might as well be reading chapter 5 of a new manga using the same characters.
Might just be a new trend or something cause now that I think about it quite a few manga I read have recently done single arcs that feel like there 60+ chapters long with nothing happening, Like I wasn't aware I was reading a shonen manga.

A sailing ship has an empty space that big? In our world, that would be filled with cargo! And even if it's already filled, the captain would find a way to put in more cargo! Even if they don't have cargo, that place would be filled with barrels of water or sacks of flour.

Crew sleeping space? What's that? You see that musty moist place behind that barrel? Yeah, hang a hammock and sleep there.
