I feel really bad for those soldiers. Mostly because everything could've been solved by splitting like this from the start. I assume MC tried to negotiate because he didn't know if the kids were in that fort, but he could've easily sneaked around since the letter was addressed to the girl (i think).

+1 to mob mages for taking the rings off instead of letting themselves be fodder though.
