Thinking "he is a guy, so since he didn't shove her off, maybe he enjoyed getting raped" is straight out toxic even for teenagersAgain I dont think she was bad for that. She was in a territory that is totally unknown to her as she was raised the way she was AND she is just a teenager.
She was THE naive teenager that would ne er be able to deal with sexual topics at first and had to deal with the worst topic possible one.
It's just a sad situation that didnt came from Malice. A kind of situation that years later she will regret a lot but does that make a bad person? I ely cant see that.
??????????? no she doesnt, shes questioning all of the societal expectations that she was raised with, which is something incredibly common in teenagers. a sheltered sixteen year old in modern japanese society being confused about how a boy could be overpowered is extremely expected. This girl on the other hand, deep down believes that he enjoyed the rape
What all we've seen her mother do is not tell her as a child that part of the store was porn and turn off a show because she didn't want to hear a lady talking about sex that's most mom's her friend's talk about sex and shoujo have sex in them sometimes also she her self was groped so she should know better and even if she didn't why would you say that to his face at best your calling him liar that was never going to do anything but hurt him and do you know about modern japanese teenagers other than what you see online or in media??????????? no she doesnt, shes questioning all of the societal expectations that she was raised with, which is something incredibly common in teenagers. a sheltered sixteen year old in modern japanese society being confused about how a boy could be overpowered is extremely expected.
she never once said he enjoyed it, she was openly questioning everything she has ever known because she's a child having brand new and emotionally overwhelming experiences for the very first time. of course he's going to react as if he thinks she's disgusted or doesn't believe him, because he's been beating himself up about it the entire time.
her entire life her mother raised her in a strict black and white worldview, even the manga she reads is fluffy shoujo that lends to her delulu fantasies of a perfect romance. she is only just now finding out that the world can be unexpected shades of grey. in terms of child development, this is completely normal and expected.
He did listen. He even said that it's not her fault however, the damage was already done.??????????? no she doesnt, shes questioning all of the societal expectations that she was raised with, which is something incredibly common in teenagers. a sheltered sixteen year old in modern japanese society being confused about how a boy could be overpowered is extremely expected.

actually i'm going to edit this to add more because the rest of these comments are making me angry.
she states several times that she isn't blaming Kaede but that it's HER who has the problem. she doesn't want to think about it at all, but it's a frightening thing that happened to someone she cares about and it's jumbling up her thoughts. of course its unpleasant. of course it hurts to think about. she says her reaction is not about him, she's not disgusted by him, she explicitly does not think that Kaede is in the wrong for any reason. It's simply and solely that she has not processed any of it yet.
"Can you blame me[ for being overwhelmed]? I have no experience dealing with this." She has never encountered anything like this before. It's scary, it's upsetting, she doesn't know what's going on in her emotions and reactions. She recognizes that she had lofty fantasies but is trying to deal with the fact that no romance is perfect and without bumps in the road. It's brand new for her. No shit she's not dealing with it perfectly right off the bat!
It hurts thinking about what happened to the person she cares about. It hurts to have these questions bouncing around in her head when she has only ever known certainty.
And it's all capped off with him not listening to her when she explicitly states she doesn't think less of him, she doesn't think he's disgusting, she's just confused and trying to process it. What can she even do right now other than walk away? "He's upset > I'm the one who upset him > I'm not getting through to him > I am also confused and upset > I should leave" is an extremely reasonable train of thought for a naive child in the thick of her own confusing experience with her entire worldview crashing down around her whilst becoming the collateral damage in another person's tragedy.
This writer is extremely good at portraying these kids feelings and i have to say it's a real damn shame it's zooming over people's heads because of kneejerk reactions to nuanced emotions.
She said it twice while she was at home on her room, and then she went and said it again to his face, she knows that she is in the wrong, but that doesn't changes the fact that she is still thinking about it??????????? no she doesnt, shes questioning all of the societal expectations that she was raised with, which is something incredibly common in teenagers. a sheltered sixteen year old in modern japanese society being confused about how a boy could be overpowered is extremely expected.

Just go to reddit, they are defending Tsubada.I want to see the Tsubasa defenders now.
This is why she's an ass. Right here.
I'll decline that suggestion.Just go to reddit, they are defending Tsubada.
To quickly hating a victim blamer what the world would be a better place if a guy said what she said to a girl there be no question but when it the other way around it's a debate even in this chat people can't treat male victims equally lolI felt like people hating Tsubasa too easily, yes what she did is wrong. But past chapters give enough context on her train of thoughts how she didn't mean it with ill intent, she even said it in this chapter there is something wrong with her thoughts. She is immature and naive. She doesn't know the weight of her words and how it affect Kaede psyche, she didn't see how traumatize Kaede was when he was raped. It makes Tsubasa more human with her flaw. I'll wait how she will grow before I judge her behavior
I gotta give it to the author on how they brought up the conflict between the two, it has more weight than typical drama manga on how it was organically developed
