Especially for an adult woman. You're kissing, dating, and living with your GF. What adult woman (Japanese or not) wouldn't understand what that means in this day and age? Her specific issues seem beyond silly, even for a manga. A setup like this is normally used as a joke, not something to be taken seriously.

It's pretty easy to misunderstand things when two people are talking but have different ideas in their heads, this is also a thing that happens in manga and anne often because of how context heavy Japanese is, they each have a different context for the conversation but it keeps going because their are continuing it with their own context in mind.

Tbh, I don't even get how Hikari could have gotten that misunderstanding... This feels really forced for cheap drama and it's even more frustrating that this whole pseudo rival thing was avoided earlier. So why bring it now in such an artificial way ? At this point, the story don't really need that to make progress.

Aside from the last two comments in reply to the anon that's "happily living their life" as they say the "haters" amount to questioning if it wasn't unprofessional and hoping she doesn't use it to boost her career essentially. Don't egosearch right indeed. The horrors of being encouraged for coming out via promises of support and hoping you don't improve your career by it your shtick. MC is still a kid so I can understand why she focused in on the negative replies but it still feels silly to see her depressed over so few "haters"
