I was thinking about something similar too.
I mean, it's too fishy that his reaction is so plain, almost indifferent; even if he was sospecting something, he was emotionless: no rage, no shock...not even "happy" to have discovered the truth.
Almost like if everything was a piece falling into place more than finding proof of his wife's infidelity. Completely unnatural

That's sorta the relief I think @PsyFarrow was talking about. This may be weird but closest I can think of is when someone who is end of life/terminal dies - many folks have already gone through half the stages of grief by the time it happens.

Also it feels so tech brained to me to have looked up all the laws (gotten all the specs) even if he wants to forgive her/stay with her. It's a standard coping mechanism to help feel like you've got some control over the situation. (The dying person analog is learning all the home nursing things).

Of course the obvious answer may be that Kei is a bad guy too, but I also think it could be that he knew the laws because he’s lying about wanting to stay together with Rio. Or perhaps he knew of the cheating (maybe he even cheated himself) and thus searched up the law.

Like perhaps Rio cheating is revenge on her husband and Mahoro is either collateral or also an intended victim.
