It seems like the author is gearing up an interesting twist to: "the World wants to get rid of the demon lord".
At least, I hope so. Rather than create a new interesting enemy for the MC to defeat, at some point, it'd be much more welcome to explore "The will of the World" itself, and how it can actually damage the world instead; like how a fever is meant to reduce or remove a disease, it also endangers the body itself.

Fate/stay night had a pretty neat way to incorporate this "will of the world" shtick into its story, even if albeit simplistic. I hope something similar will be delved into in this story.
