What if that giant ghost thing is a pure magic golem thats controlled by a soul, the magic empire mightve summoned the previous hero(the one with the MC) soul and is forced to do those. So, my guess is that the hero didn't reincarnate with him because her soul got yoinked by the gods to be their plaything even after death, and what we're seeing now is the manifestation of that.

My theory:
the world was like “cant stop you, so I’ll make you stop yourself”. Proceeds to create the strongest demon lord that can wipe out humanity. The lich now has to help humans if it wants to fulfill its ambition of uniting humans by staying a threat (they cant do that if they’re dead)
