Machine translation group kept sniping series and too many people here are perfectly happy to have it so the group actually putting effort into translation and redrawing decided to pull their content off of Mangadex and only post to Dynasty.

You can read their translation here now:

Not sure why the MTL group also pulled. Maybe promising sign that they have some remorse.
If you're good at using MTL, it's more or less indistinguable from normal translation for 90 percent of manga. The only stuff it really misses on is puns and dialects and stuff like that.
The important part is really being good at editing and writing fluently. That's the thing that's the most important for having a good reading experience. This can probably be fixed by having a good proofreader really if you're not a native English speaker.
Most likely it'd be impossible banning MTL, because you can't tell a good MTL from a proper translation. But you can demand that releases should at least have a certain level of readability. Though how you should be able to do that without it being an arbitrarily decision and not unfair is probably impossible.
The future of scanlation is most likely AI though. You already have AI that's good enough to clean, redraw, and typeset MTL translation that's readable enough to understand what a chapter is about in less than a minute, like ichigoreader. Of course it misses a bit on stuff like when several bubble texts are connected, and it doesn't catch everything, but most likely it'll be impossible for scanlators to compete with complete AI scanlation that can do chapters in a minute. And it's been advancing severely the past couple of years.
