This arc has been essential to Gojo's growth as an artist, and as shown in this chapter, his realization of why being with Marin is for his own sake as well. He set off on this journey to help Marin, and while he's already had several growths along the way, they were just like "some nice byproduct of these endeavors that's nice to have" to him. Only now did he acknowledge the necessity of them, that these endeavors are what he needs to grow from a well-practiced craftsman into an artist.
Up to this point, their relationship was like Marin needs Gojo to make her cosplay and take care of her lifestyle, and now Gojo finally realized why he actually needs Marin in his life as well.

Yeah, I were thinking that normal ppl would go look for the textile instead. But if the texture he needs is specifically "ancient kimono" (rather than "the fabric used in antique kimonos"), then "antique kimono" he will get. Apparently he can buy plenty of them cheaply to massacre, too (how can something named "antique" be cheaper than regular fabric?).

I'm not too sure about antique - as in heirloom kimono, but old kimono are readily available for cheap in Japan. Especially if you know where and how to look, which I'm assuming grandpa Gojo should. So I wouldn't worry too much about prices
