Bought Battlefield V for $3.50. Had really low expectation, but I thought it's only 3 bucks, so why not give it a shot? OK. So the game is beautiful. Very much so. And... that's about it. Maps are mostly bloody awful. They look great, no doubt. But they don't play great. Some maps are too open, and you can easily get shot from any where! It's also a pain to have to sprint toward the objective if your spawn is too far away, because your squads are wiped out. Some spawns don't have vehicles, or not enough. Look to your left, right, ahead. All clear. Let's sprint! Bfft Got shot by an enemy from either direction you just checked. Your teammates are either really good or obviously mentally challenged, rarely somewhere between.
Even in infantry based maps, this is still a frustrating occurrence. You think the area is clear? Nope. Get shot by someone who popped out of nowhere from either direction you just checked. Sometimes, I can't even find a single teammate near the objective we were supposed to capture. WTF? And the gunplay... Somehow, it feels worse than the previous games. Guns feel even shittier. As if I'm shooting a BB gun. The classic problem I have with all FPS games is I can never seem to do enough damage to kill someone. This is no exception. 5 shots to the body? 80-90 damage. Get shot once = dead. Oh, and headshots in this game are not one-hit-kill. I often shot someone in the head 2-3 times only for them to still survive and run away or kill me in one hit. Hit detection seems even worse than BF4, and that game is 13 years old. Netcode is probably shit, too. That further explains why I can shoot someone 5 times and still not get the kill.
Cherry on top? Hackers. This game has plenty of hackers, many are Chinese. They mainly use speedhack, and it's very obvious when you see them in your team. If you have to fight against them, forget it. I don't like FPS games as much as before anymore, but sill feel like coming to play every now and then. But this game is even worse than CS2, and that game feels worse than CS Source. Maybe these modern shooters are just not for me anymore. I want to play something to relieve stress, not become more tired. 3/10?
