Well science + religion = magic I think,
damn why all of you are angry at religion it's just organization, event and culture even though I'm not believer of religion (well I just believe in God) and this is just a plot to make a mage (magic) in his village and he's the God.

I am curios as to not only what benefits religion in his world brings, but what they worship. I mean do they worship him, the gods in the world he lives in or believes, or people that he idolizes or cares for.

Religion can easily be a good thing as it can help spread a moral compass for people to follow. Well that is if the religion spread good ideologies like helping others and not bad ones like torturing or sacrificing people to please god/s. However many things that originated from once helpful religions can turn bad once someone with enough influence pushes it into a certain direction. Like the pope creating not only the idea of limbo in the Catholic version of Christianity, but also saying that you can pay money to the leaders to spend less time there. Then there's also the relation of Tengrism and Kahn.

Ah, yes, Religion

Then, Sins and Virtues as all things shall be.

Then we'll have Law along with the previous concepts of morality.

Next is Ideologies may come before law, but the political compass just poofs out of the oblivion.

Next will be War, which comes hand-in-hand. An absolute bargain!

After war, Science as we discover nuclear enegy.

man, people beating up the idea of religion x.O; just as an FYI folks, religion is how you get dumb people to do smart things. Gotta remember, back before religion if YOU introduced an idea you became a heretic, but if some spaghetti monster in the sky told you to tell them to introduce an idea though... it was ingenious and you were a prophet! only problem is now devious people use this idea to take advantage of dumb people *glances at main stream media* same way the idea was used to start wars "well, I didn't say it, but HE said that they were bad people and HE is someone you should worship"

@ReficuLSolbaiD Religion is worse than what you describe. It makes dumb and smart people do stupid, terrible, and even immoral things. In the bible slavery is allowed with some rules. A woman can be raped so long as she is an unwed virgin and the man who raped her only has to pay money to keep her as his wife. You could be stoned for eating certain seafood. Now how does religion make people stupid and terrible? Terrible and immorality can be shown by how some religious people are willing to kill homosexual people, their stupidity can be seen in how they treat science as if it didn't happen because their 2000 year old book said it isn't so.

@ShadenKnight yeah x.O; not sure why I'm giving this idiocy a reply when I already said that it's abused. The current bible is on it's 7th addition last time I checked, it went through changes during King James' reign, entire books disappeared when it was adopted by the roman catholics. Even with all that I guess I still have to say this...

Everything you just mentioned is part of the OLD TESTIMATE, which is FAR older than 2000 years. AKA you have zero clue wtf you're talking about -.- get your head out of the sand and do your own research instead of listening to the religious babbling of your college professors and social media. They've been converting people to their own religion for YEARS now. They are still trying to make people believe that the 9/11 terrorist attack never happened -.- my jaw dropped when I heard that.

I can't tell if you are trying to argue that religion is terrible or telling me I don't know the bible so to stay out of it.

I know the old testament is older. I say 2,000 years as a way of just exaggerating and I'm not being literal. And does it matter what is old testament and what is new? Because it shouldn't, God endorsed these things. They are and were still moral to him. Slavery is moral in the new testament. Also most christians don't even know what the real ten commandments are. They take it on faith that the first ten of the first set, by which had way more than ten commandments, are the actual ten commandments. But in fact The Ten Commandments are a bit different:
Exodus:

Don’t make metal images of gods.

18 Don’t fail to observe the Festival of Thin Bread in the month of Abib.[c] Obey me and eat bread without yeast for seven days during Abib, because that is the month you left Egypt.

19 The first-born males of your families and of your flocks and herds belong to me.

20 You can save the life of a first-born donkey[d] by sacrificing a lamb; if you don’t, you must break the donkey’s neck. You must save every first-born son.

Bring an offering every time you come to worship.

21 Do your work in six days and rest on the seventh day, even during the seasons for plowing and harvesting. 22 Celebrate the Harvest Festival[e] each spring when you start harvesting your wheat, and celebrate the Festival of Shelters[f] each autumn when you pick your fruit.

23 Your men must come to worship me three times a year, because I am the Lord God of Israel. 24 I will force the nations out of your land and enlarge your borders. Then no one will try to take your property when you come to worship me these three times each year.

25 When you sacrifice an animal on the altar, don’t offer bread made with yeast. And don’t save any part of the Passover meal for the next day.

26 I am the Lord your God, and you must bring the first part of your harvest to the place of worship.

Don’t boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

27 The Lord told Moses to put these laws in writing, as part of his agreement with Israel. 28 Moses stayed on the mountain with the Lord for forty days and nights, without eating or drinking. And he wrote down the Ten Commandments, the most important part of God’s agreement with his people.

@ShadenKnight I'm not going to get into an argument over Christianity. This is a damn manga forum, not a place to keep shooting verbal bullets at each other. Research the alterations that were made to the bible throughout history though; as someone who seems to be interested in the horrifics of religion, it should give you plenty of ammo for how it was abused throughout history.
