It's lost in translation, it's all about the word sketching being very similar to other word in Japanese (learned this from a nagatoro chapter)

Honestly I can't really think of a good way of including it within the limit of the dialog bubbles available, maybe a TN on the margin of the page?

If we translation noted every little joke we had to fudge to make work in English the text in the margins would be longer than Nakamura's dialogue

If you have to explain the joke, it's not funny, and the last thing we want to do with this series is to make it not funny

Oh... It wasn't as obvious to me as it should have, absolute kudos to the translation team then, the part of my brain that deals with double meaning must have been 90% asleep cause I even reread it like three times.

Great chapter as always. My favorite part was the cherry blossom leaves blowing into Chiyo's glasses. "My eyes! The glasses do nothing!" amazing references.

One thing I like on re-reading the chapter is how you can see several moments leading into each other.

When Chiyo gets mad at Hakari's inspiration coming, the next panel is them in the background while Shizuka, Meme, and Mai watch Meru draw, then that's in the background as Ahko helps Suu appreciate the cherry blossoms, the last panel of which has Meru noticing Yamame, leading to the bit with her, Uto, and Himeka.

Also I like how Ahko finds a way for Suu to have fun. I wondered if it was a recurring thing with them and noticed it comes up in the gothlic lolita chapter, too, where Ahko points a frustrated Suu to a pair of headdresses forming a 3. To a lesser extent are the Night Pool where she shows Suu how to use the winged rafts, and helping her make friends with a cyclops to chat numbers with.

If you're asking what the Japanese text says, it's "The glasses have been disabled/nullified". Just a kind of a weird word to use.

The fact that the most natural translation for it happens to have been famously used as a joke elsewhere, well... just a coincidence.
