@snappleti you're right, she is the daughter of the Imperial Knight that escorted her back home in the first few chapters. Nice catch. Sir Kishore seems like a decent guy so there's no way he'd just sit mum if his daughter tells him about what she just saw, and he reports directly to the Emperor.

Tia will do anything to keep her plans forward, even sacrificing herself. Because she's not doing this for herself. It's for her goals and only those goals.

I guess this isn't a spoiler because i am just reading this as is posted here but hear me out.
Just to be clear the duke knows he's being used because Tia wants him to know, she doesn't feel the need to manipulate him like she's doing with the rest because on the first meeting with him on this timeline she tells him that she wants him to be emperor and she's going to do everything to accomplish that, the price to pay is way lower than what she got from making her brother the emperor on her first half of her life and that is what makes her dangerous, way more than before her return.

this series reminids me of a Chinese novel where the protag didnt even lift a finger and managed to torture and kill every single one of the people that made her suffer, even sold out the country to a foreign one so nothing of the royal family would remain, which is what i hope happens here with the caveat being the rebuilding of this country

Sorry for the short essay on this series

I get that he's mad, but she told him straight up that she was a villain.

On one hand i think tia is perfectly capable of risking herself if it's for the greater good to atone of her past sins. So it's possible that she deliberately made this happen. But on the other hand, i think wether or not evron came, she would've taken the abuse anyway, she's used to it after all and there is a slight chance that she didn't know her mother comes back on that day. But we'll see.

The ML looks mad, idk if he's mad because he was tricked into her plan or because she is putting herself in danger for her plan.

Damn girl knows exactly how to play the people around her. No wonder she managed to make Lawrence Emperor in the old timeline.
Creating a situation where she knew her mother would flip her shit, making sure there are people who witness it, giving the Duke a way to shine and also a reason for the mother to potentially become a liability to the Emperor...
DAMN girl.

When that girl fainted, I died of laughter 😂. The maid that protected our girl deserves a raise.

...that woman is crazy. Besides, beating up her daughter in front of all her guest, nobles on top of that, isn't bad for her reputation and Lawrence's as a heir to the throne?....... Oh~ so Tia could be aiming to that? Lowering her mother's and Lawrence's reputation so they're kind of banned from high society or something like that? Because the maid knows too and she will tell her grandfather, and obviously he will report it to the emperor who, hypocritically, thinks of her as a daughter (*snort*)

But she shouldn't have risked her body like that: even if her mother (hopefully) wouldn't kill her, she could become an invalid... That was a pretty reckless strategy 😔

She's betting her all to bring her family down and make the duke the future emperor.

I love this story especially when tia has so many strategies in mind.

It is sad that she has to use herself as a bait like that though 😭

I feel we got to give her an applause.

Like @KathyClysm mentioned, she probably calculated this out as a way to further undermine her family. She knows this situation will likely results in a beating, like it has in the past, but she braced herself to deal with it for a long term payout. Even if the duke hadn't shown himself, the abuse was witnessed by her guests and it would only be a matter of time before he or one of his associates got word of it/saw her. As such it would only be expected given his character that he would be upset. In turn, since she's setup the duke as a potential supporter of Lawrence, he doesn't want to get on his bad side. More so, after the fiasco with the child trafficking, he needs all the support he can get. He will flip once he finds out that the Duke found his mother beating his sister as he knows the Duke's support is based on his interest in her. This now will split up the mother/son team. Brilliant.

On the other hand, I look forward to the duke rebuking her out of concern for her. While the payout may seem good, taking a beating like that is no joke. If that vase had landed she could have gotten glass in her face or eyes.

@Heenimakira In one of the earlier chapters where they first agree to get married he lays down only one groundrule: "Don't hurt my people," and then follows that up by emphasizing that she is now very much included in that group. I think its fair to say he is not happy with her right now.
