Really? This whole thing is just because she’s a salty bitch? What a waste of time.
Don't forget these kids are just political pieces, the only reason they are in this school is to make connections with other kids from other different influential families, her being a salty bitch about not winning the seat which literally is a golden ticket to the high society isn't the biggest problem. It's her unjustified behaviour towards Alya just because she is not from the "circle".

She lost to the Suou siblings in middle school elections. So for the entirety of her time she had seen the siblings as some kind of God made pair who shouldn't be seperated, she basically reveres them, so the idea that Alya, a nobody transfer student with no electoral records or any major achievement, managed to break her "OTP", it infuriated her to the core, she is fine losing to the siblings but she does not want to lose to a nobody who is riding the tailcoat of Kuze.

TLDR: She big mad cuz her One time pairing was broken.
Cause it essentially is in some aspects. The school they're attending is largely for the elite. Children of politicians, judges, diplomats, the rich, etc.
Student council president also is a sort of elevated position/gateway to connections with highly influential people.

At one point she was running for student council president in Middle school. Yuki and Kuze defeated her, as well as beating her during the debate(s). Basically her home turf. So she sees Kuze not running with Yuki a betrayal as they worked incredibly well together during their presidency, also because she thinks he turned his back on his childhood friend, and the Suou family as a whole by running against Yuki. She, of course, doesn't know about Yuki and Kuze being related nor that Kuze was a part of the Suou family since that's something they're keeping secret.
She's also a massive otaku. So she sees Kuze turning his back on his "childhood friend" in favor of the foreign student blasphemous cause of the classic rom-com cliche/trope.
Man, you're just giving us more and more evidence to not like such an annoying character. Why is this even an obstacle to the main duo's relationship and progress in the elections? They're already dealing enough with MC's sister/childhood friend as it is.

I get all the explanations on why she's acting like that and the importance of the position, but even with that, it still seems melodramatic and dragging this election plot in a direction that just feels so pointless.

Like do we need more plot devices that Kuze can use to prove that he's truly devoted to Alya, but still hasn't abandoned his sister, and Alya can use to show she's "worthy" of standing by his side? I feel like we get it lol

okay these last few chapters have straight up turned me off this series. it's a fucking student government election, why are they treating this like they're in some political soap opera with all this horrible melodrama?
Imagine this shit in the real world, with the students around mocking them for being this fucking absurd

Or they could just not play her childish game. In fact, they could call it out as the childish game that it is.

Why do mangakas allow the most immature characters to dictate terms and have the prots go along with it?

I don't understand why they're taking her seriously. She's just a self centered childish brat who thinks the world revolves around her. She does not get a say in who runs for the student council and who they have help them at all. They should not be listening to her. They don't have to do anything she says.

Honestly, I don't know why the author decided to make the story go in this whole soap opera drama direction. The manga was fine when it was just a "haha, the girl's embarrassing herself and doesn't notice!" episodic romcom. This just isn't entertaining anymore. The only reason I'm still reading this is for when the story eventually gets to the reveal that he knows Russian, but I'm honestly just considering dropping it at this point. Like, the whole "She doesn't know he knows Russian" premise hasn't been relevant in a good few chapters! It's totally possible that reveal'll just never happen, because their not even building up to it anymore.

For anyone's who's read the LN, does this arc end soon, and if so, does it go back to the original romcom premise or does it stay a drama like this?

They kinda are? Getting into the StuCo at this place is a ticket to top positions at the top places in Japan -- business or government -- and becoming president of that council fast-tracks you into the cabinet or the PM convo. It's a huge deal. And it'll become an even bigger deal personally for Masachika and Yuki and the Suou house succession battle, but that's a long ways off just yet.

Not yet, anyway.

The student council election isn't an arc. It's one of the backbones of the entire series. We're in May or June right now and the election won't take place until the next calendar year.
