I have to say: I get the MC feeling of "not wanting to drag down anybody else into the same shitty spot he was". Fortunately, I've grown out of that place. However, seeing him like this kinda hit close to home.

Was it stupid thing to do? Yes. Was there a better way to cope and to act out of it? Absolutely. Should you just stay in that terrible mindset and stay away from others? No, you can do better.

In the end, I hope the MC get a proper development and not wail in this childish, now that I looked back at it, mindset of "I will stay behind the limelight so as to not get others down with the shitty me".

I think people are missing the true reason behind the MC feeling so guilty for helping his sister win. In a later panel, we see a young MC sitting in front of a piano with the caption reading "because I experienced the emptiness of hard work not paying off." With this context its pretty easy to fill in the blanks.

MC busted his ass in a competition and lost, and his parents berated him for losing, even though he performed well, and by helping his sister win the election on a whim of "might as well", he pushed a this one girl (and likely more) into that same position of their hard work and being second place meaning nothing to the family all because they didnt win. So MC, knowing that feeling directly, chooses to never push anyone into that position again, even unintentionally.

At least thats how I understood it and was surprised at how many people seem to not realize it.
I agree with everything you say bro

I don’t think people don’t realize it. I think, at least in my view, people understand and still find it a bit ridiculous. To simplify (and there may still be more context down the road but) he tried really hard once, failed, then gave up on ever pursuing or working hard on his own goals (is my understanding). Then in the future he tried hard for his sister’s sake, succeeds but makes someone else fail, then gives up ever working hard again because other people fail.

Like I’m not saying to be cold-hearted and ruthless, but giving up any and all ambition because of the universal truth that people feel bad when they lose, is ridiculous.

That being said I’m absolutely going to keep reading cause I like the manga in general. :D

see even with that, there are wins and losses and someone will definitely loss. MC knows and experienced this. He is in this top famous academy and being in the student council will give the student a big head start in the outside world. Of course there are other candidates who will be working hard and putting everything on the line. Even tho he worked on a whim, would he not know this? is he stupid?
My conclusion his loss just hit him too hard(like shown in the manga)and just put himself down rather than wanting to improve. i guess this is what character development is for

Absolutely. He has lots of growth and its overall a very childish and unhealthy mindset for him to have. But acknowledging where he's coming from and saying "he needs to grow up." Is better than "what a stupid reason" that most people are saying.

I expect we'll get more backstory and FL will help him grow past his trauma response.

What people are not understanding is that he can put himself in the shoes of girl who lost because he has suffered the same, his self atonement ended up hurting somebody other who is similar to him. In the end, he is trying to hold himself back from everything because he doesn't deserve it. It's a flawed mentality which he will have to overcome, well, I liked this chapter because it gives a good insight of Kuze's life.

That's a really interesting way to look at it. Thanks for your input

She's gonna buy lingerie and needs him to decide what he'd rather fuck her in. And get Either Sister for a Threesome? Shimaidon sounds interesting, but a bit of incest does too.

So, do all these top pedigree families try to out play each other so much, they expect their kids to be student council president and/or top of the class? Like, I get they want to outdo the other families, but, when everyone is vying for that spot, you shouldn't think negatively of your own kin. Especially if they put in the effort. But I guess psuedo nobility will be what they are.

Thanks for the TL
About the families: there's a literal national cabal of money and government power you gain access to by serving as this school's President or VP, so the posts are highly sought after, either to enter this group or to raise one's family's position within it .

He didn't lose. After his mother stopped paying attention to his achievements, his limited emotional comprehension at that time mistook the absolute silence of his audience and their blankly awed expressions as rejection. He's continued to have trouble with this kind of response even after performing again in volume eight.

Wait....THATS why he gave up on becoming Council President????

This entire time the author had me thinking it was a deeper reason or some sort of abuse he went thru during middle school

Nah it was simply because his opp started crying........🤦🏾‍♂️ Are you fucking kidding me rn??

That is why he is the way he is? He knows that if he goes for first he will feel badly for a loser? Dude cmon now, that is with everything. Won't work because the other hire wont get the job? Seriously? Such a dumb reason for how his personality is the way it is

I think I can understand Kuze's mentality. He helped his sister win because she was under pressure from the Suou family. He doesn't want others to ever feel their efforts were wasted. The losing candidate tried so hard, but in the end, it didn't even matter. She still lost to Yuki.

But he can't be so selfless that his entire life suffers for it. He has to be selfish and pursue his own dreams too. He'll only end up disappointing himself because he's not trying to actively help others.

Alta seems to be savior of sort to him. A person who pursues their dream because they really want to. I guess it also helps she's also really cute. I wonder what kind of clothes she plans on buying? Surely she knows that Kuze's compliments will just fluster her? Then again, perhaps that's what she wants. He does seem to be in the dumps, after all.

Thanks for the chapter!

He surely has some deep issues (at least he thinks so). And here's Alya just wanting to have a semi-date with him.
