It's interesting when Makoto analyzed Lime's emotions at the time he found about hyuman being experimented on, Makoto empathize with Lime's frustration of his shortcoming, rather than with Lime's disgusts of the experimentations. It hints Makoto's disregard of hyuman (especially after the stunt pulled the hyuman adventurers that came into Asora), and maybe his not quite human morals.
it's honestly an interesting part of the series how just much
Makoto doesnt like Hyumans. It's such a large subtle hatred that it's on a subconscious level. There's a scene later in the series where he gets physically sick and throws up at the mere idea of having a Hyuman working at his store.
not many series are willing to have a MC be that way about hoomans

So we've known from the start that his parents were originially from that other world and they're hyumans not demi-humans. So they'd likely be "beautiful people" in the eyes of the bug*. Then how come their son, MC, is seen as ugly by the bug and most hyumans? Will this ever get addressed, or wil it just stay as "haha, MC ugly, haha"?

*bug = shitty goddess
Just a minor spoiler on why he's the only strange one in the family

So the earlier years they transported into the earth, they still have the protection of the goddess, so his eldest sister still born as a hyuman with also the protection. In the later years, they are already fully adapted in the earth, you can consider them a human/earthling at this point, and so his younger sister also born as a human.

In between though, they got a really rough years where the protection of the goddess is waning but they are still not fully adapted in the earth. That's when he was born, also why he got a really weak physique; basically he got an extreme bad luck since his birth.

i mean, who wouldn't hate hyuman when you get prejudiced from the start and when you tried to have mutual understanding, one of em massacred your own folks who've been kind to you (even if it's just an accident, the cause of problem is coming from those hyumans greed too).

Ehh? Didn't he already have hyuman under his sphere of influence? Toa and her sister? The twins assassin?

I don't remember much, but there's a extra chapter in wn hint a reason why mc is different from his siblings. Apparently because mc's a illegitimate child, born when his mother cheating with a demon. That's why mc's a human with mixed blood and doesn't have the blessing from goddess.
Or maybe I remember wrong. You can search that chapter in translation team's website. It's already translated to english

I hope they retcon the background of Makoto's parents. Like, it seemed so needlessly fetishistic.

Put some spoilers, dude.
But also you're remembering wrong, she did cheat on his father but that all happened before they even got to earth.

Shiki & Rona: Assuming I'm understanding it correctly.
  • Rona recognizes Shiki as the Lich, but think's he's taken over a body, and that Makoto doesn't know Shiki's identity as a Lich. (When in reality, Makoto knows, and the body is due to his contract with Makoto.)
  • Shiki plays along with that misconception, thus letting Rona think she has a handle on Shiki, that she doesn't actually have. And also not letting her know that this means that Makoto is much stronger than Shiki.

Maybe the beauty of all the hyumans is not entirely genetic. It could be partially the goddess's blessing (=the goddess not wanting to see ugly hyumans). On Earth, Makoto would obviously be born without the blessing and only be affected by the genetics.
Actually, the WN did talk about why Makoto is like this and is very weak in his early days.

In the WN, after his parents were transported to Earth, they were told by bug to train like hell for a least a year as the blessing given to them to resist earth's gravity only last that much.

During that one year, they had his older sister (I forgot her name) and found that she has some of bug's blessing (it did not expired on her) will live a relatively normal life but also needed training as she still have the genetic of the otherworld.

Makoto on the other hand isn't so lucky. He was born after the blessing expired and the parents are in the midst of getting used to the environment. So he have the makeup of halfs the otherworld and earth's constitution which contridicts each other, thus making him super weak and vulnerable, and was destined to die at a young age until the healer came to help him. Making him a little stronger to not die and continue training to just live a normal life.

His younger sister is more fortunate. She was born after the parents got used to the environment and it was said she has far better constitution than the rest of the family but was told to do training just in case as the family have a history of fragile bodies.

So to add on as to why he was labelled as ugly in bug's world is most likely due to the blessing's expiration and his parents not used to the environment of earth.

Too much (light) spoilers here, like who the boy is or about Makoto's parents. Put everything under a spoiler if you can't stop yourselves from talking about what hasn't happened yet. Those who don't, I just ignore them.

Maybe since the parents' body not yet adopted to earth by the time Makoto is born so he is a hybrid. So it is possible it is the uncanny valley.
The uncanny valley hypothesis predicts that an entity appearing almost human will risk eliciting cold, eerie feelings in viewers. WIkipedia

ngl but the moment mc got other people under his wing is the moment that he is only portrayed as nothing but strong enough not to die immediately. like in previous chapters, he was shown to us that he can't lie for shit, and just over all average aside from his mana capacity enough to be someone's battery(like how darkseid used flash as hamster wheel charger/powerplant) and his intermediate mastery for archery. IMO it became.... bland. like legit the isekai farmer is much more fun to read than this.
idk man it's just not that fun to read anymore like it used to. :boomer::nyoron:

edit: mc actually said it himself that he "just relied to other people for everything" after re-reading it lmao. it's good that he's somewhat self-aware but it's not like there's gonna be a change even after this goes on to chapter 100

His sisters are apparently attractive
