Do murder really gets solved if some random decides to write a suicide notes and confess in a text?

There isn't any new evidence, and existing evidence wasn't enough to lead to a suspect so it'd be no different if the neighbor confessed right?
Hard to say because murders like this many times go unsolved. The reason why it was done isn't too out there but it's a connection hard to make if they missed this detail as they focused too much on the husband while investigating where the family lived. (Nobody mentioned the noise complaints when interrogated because the questions never went there)

If they double checked after being hinted that by something, even a suspicious suicide note like this could help making the connection. If this is believable it's up to the reader.

I believe its due to these being cases that went cold so unless new information proves otherwise this would bring people solace.

Aw, kitty! Interesting she's still at the donut shop unless she plans to quit next arc and move on

I think at the last second he decided that to be a good detective he had to report her, but died before writing her full name.
I wonder how useful her full name would be, i guess she hasn't hidden her identity yet but i wonder if the 'report me if you want' means there'll be some arc where she imprisons herself on purpose and gets rid of criminals while in the jail (unless that counts as punishment enough versus going out of her way to get a captured criminal. if not prove some innocent arrested person's case who took the blame and get the real criminal lol)

The detective is hella funny.
the whole monologue about "buh huh, i judged the innocents guy", process to judge MC as TRUE MONSTER 3 second later  lol what ?
Worst is, He was about to do the same shit and almost kill an innocent guy. MC at least, not only give the family, this detective closure, she saved a innocents life, and prevent a good men from being a murder. What the Detective would do, at best only for punished the culprit. Heck she even give every "wrong button" a last chance, i don't believe the detective plan to do the same
I think in his mind, he saw that she is purposeless, she confessed to not understanding herself, so he probably fears that in the future, this same power that lets her judge the wicked, may be turned against the innocent or something? She can devise ways to get out of bad situations.
I still find it stupid just like you, but who knows really.

Me and a lot of people: Executing a murderer: Good. That's what we have the death penalty for. And do to her psychic talents, she won't make a mistake? Great! That gets rid of the only objection to a death penalty. She's even still checking to see if the murderer felt remorse or hard turned over a new leaf? Even better! Please keep at it! In fact, let's pay her for her great work! Make sure she gets some down time and gets to hang out and have fun when not executing murderers.

Lot of other people: Executing a murderer is wrong. She needs to be stopped. She's broken and needs help.

[Edit: Clarified "Some other people" to "Lot of other people". There's a lot of people on both sides of the issue.]

Not all murders and murderers are the same and:
Executing a murderer is wrong.
Most people where I am from are against the death penalty. 🤷‍♂️

Author actually 500 IQ. Wrote the story that resolved in an unsatisfactory way to empathize with the detective. Real life doesn't always end up all nice and neat.
No breadcrumbs with a spotlight on each one. Just a misbuttoning story where the real important part wasn't the act of violence itself, it was the uncomfortable truths for the people involved.

It's a long shot but I'm gonna call it: if and when Tsumugi eventually gets caught and/or dies, she's just gonna be relieved it's all over. Not because she didn't want to kill people anymore, but because just being exposed to those kinds of thoughts on the daily is wearing down her psyche. She has no sense of justice, no drive to endure all that excruciating mental anguish, but it's not like she wants to kill herself. So she "fixes" those buttons, because what else is she supposed to do? Even though she's mega-jaded, it's clear from that final scene of the first arc that reading the minds of murderers when not expecting it is deeply unpleasant to her, so she can't exactly ignore it either...
Alright I've said my piece, now only time can tell if I'm cooking or cooked :dogkek:

I'm not going to argue it. I'm just pointing out that where people stand on death penalty is going to drive readers' responses.

I did clarify my post to indicate that there are many people on both sides.

First, even for mentally normal people, there are plenty who would not be bothered by seeing an unrepentant, vicious murderer executed. Even doing it yourself might be a relief -- "That threat has been removed. I can sleep better now." Or "Finally, justice for XXX. I can sleep now." (I am NOT saying "always," but I think that this would be true for some people at least.)

As for Tsumugi, the suggestion here is that her thinking is not normal. Rather, she seems to be a sociopath -- i.e. she's just not bothered. She's not malicious, she's not out to hurt people; but OTOH she's not out for justice. She's just OCD about murderers going free, so she does something about it. Perhaps the author will reveal some hidden inner turmoil in the future -- but from what the author has told us so far, she doesn't have any such turmoil.

JP WNs etc. have a lot of socially distant (to outright sociopathic) MCs. So it's not surprising at all for Tsumugi to be another such character.

it was brief, but they did in ch 4 page 10 didnt they? though it had the opposite effect and put more suspicion on the husband instead

nah, his action is within his character, at first he is thinking logically but as we know him he is a stubborn workaholic DETECTIVE.

Got a feeling the manga will end with Tsumugi commit suicide once she comes to realizations that she is also the "unfixed button".

Second arc wasn't nearly as satisfying as the first one, with the killer being a rando who was introduced in the same scene where she was accused and died.
