Oh dear, Yajers totally gonna get pwned. That's some skilled noble move; that's no foot in the door, he's already having dinner with him

His heart and his liver stolen in the same chapter
If he says that, I can't find it. Near the end, he speculates that another adventurer could have found "the body" of the smaller mirage fox corpse, but he doesn't know if that's what actually happened:
https://mangadex.org/chapter/9e8b8159-15ab-45f5-9eac-c00082868a49/13

Note that he left the whole fox while it was bleeding:
https://mangadex.org/chapter/0fa15465-bf00-46ab-9eac-9e1e674e629b/10

It uses its camouflage ability, so it appears to be dying but alive, but then we see another image of it that maybe is meant to be when it died.

This is in the forest near the ant zone, somewhere adventurers don't normally go:
https://mangadex.org/chapter/0fa15465-bf00-46ab-9eac-9e1e674e629b/2

Which he appears to return to when looking for the fox:
https://mangadex.org/chapter/9e8b8159-15ab-45f5-9eac-c00082868a49/12

He leaves it because he doesn't know it's valuable and because he is dying of ant poison. He jumps into the water to the water to get rid of the ants, collects puppy, gets attacked by wolves, then staggers back into the city and collapses. Suggesting that another adventurer took the corpse could be a good lead for it to show up again, but anything could have happened with it left in the open.

The liver and heart were also left in the fox at this point, unless I'm missing something relevant. I say "something relevant" because this was confusing enough that it seems guaranteed I'm misunderstanding something.

Oh nah yeah I’m just talking about him having a crush on the artisan girl and getting drunk with the noble

Oh lol, I'm glad we have someone to balance out my manga autism analysis.

This could be a sign he's getting more attached to the city, now that I think about it. In the past, even when he trusted someone and acted friendly, he tended to be putting on an act to some extent. It's a significant change from not too long ago when he was worried about killing human children and losing his humanity. Now he has a good relationship with the guild, the guardsmen are relatively uncorrupt and he has a trusted connection among them, he has a love interest, and he's getting along casually with a noble. Despite his difficult experiences, he's gotten use to this place.

Since this is going to end with him escaping town with the armor, I'll take this as a clear sign that everything is about to go hell for him next chapter.

This is…this is going too smooth for this manga. I really hope this noble is chill, but even if he is, the manga will probably bring in a higher rank noble who will make shit hit the fan.

I’m glad our boy is stronger now though.

Thanks for the translation!

I'm confused.

Didn't he want to use the mirage fox material to imbue his armor with automatic repairs? Why are they now talking about doing the tippet? I guess he's trying to present it as a gift to the lord for some advantage but it really seems to me like it'll just invite attention and trouble. The lord doesn't even acknowledge having lost the tippet, so it's not like they can publicly reward Yajin for delivering a mirage fox.

I can't say I understand wanting to pass off the job to another workshop either; they may have known how to make the tippet in the past, but there's no guarantee that they've preserved the technique, especially since they appear to employ lots of people and mass produce goods which aren't top quality.

Then there's the negotiation with another noble, who his research has deemed to be a dangerous person, but he's taken in stride. I guess he's having fun, and couldn't really refuse the invitation to drink, but being dead drunk is definitely not great for negotiations and we still don't know what this guy wants though he was apparently willing to wait a few days and Yajin wasn't attacked in that time period. I guess that, for now, only the guard, their noble captain, and the workshop know about the mirage fox so things are relatively calm.

Well, at least he apparently broke the level barrier and got new skills so he'll be able to level a bit later, but that doesn't really help him right now.

I was a little confused too, but here's my hot takes:

I too found it odd that he's not mentioning the equipment, but, prioritising what the nobles want is in keeping with the themes of the series. It's possible his equipment is supposed to be made with the leftover scraps? In any case, it feels very up this series' alley to conclude that simply making what he wants with the pelt when some nobles are explicitly out looking for it is actively dangerous and to be avoided.

By my recollection (which could be wrong), the nobles want to fake the original pelt to avoid an embarrassment, not just replace it. Thus, ideally, one would want to find the original artisan. His friends are great but forgery (even if sanctioned) presumably isn't their thing.

As for getting involved with the noble... I mean, he himself indicates he doesn't really feel he has a choice (well, presumably, save for fleeing town again, which is likely plan B). Antagonising nobles in this world has already been amply demonstrated to end up with murderous guards on your doorstep. That is, as far as MC figures, the request to meet wasn't really a "request".

Everything you said is pretty much what my assumptions are while translating (there's always a chance it's wrong, without knowing the story ahead).
WRT fleeing town, one thing the LN mentions is that Emden (the jaw ripping guy) likely has the resources and motivation to send assassins after Yajin, even if he decides to go. At least on the LN side, Yajin is in a tighter spot than normal, and the novel also does a better job of describing just how powerful the nobles, and people like Emden, really are in Toulon. Emden has a whole complex of buildings full of hundreds of people with special skills, and he doesn't let people go if he thinks they owe him something.
The manga seems to be avoiding some of the more unsavoury aspects of what Yajin has to do in Toulon, and focusing more on the money he's invested into his new equipment, so the Mirage Fox storyline might be what we get instead.

What 'more unsavory' things has he committed/will commit while in this city;
and does he escape at least with whatever armour he's trying to make if something happens (I just want to know that even if he has to run has a small W on his tracklist)

Yajin works as an enforcer for Emden, and he has to kill and torture people in as brutal way as possible or else he stops being useful to Emden.

The next chapter should drop in a couple of days, and in it the manga story started to move back towards where the LN is, so maybe we will still see Yajin doing despicable stuff.

I basically got the same impression as Pokari, where Yajin doesn't seem to think he has much of a choice, regardless of what he wants to do. Even getting on the radar of a noble is dire, let alone catching their ire. A magical armor might save him sometime in the future, but an angry noble could make his life hell.
While the noble might not publicly reward him, he could still reward him. Even without a reward - not having the noble after his skin would be enough to make it worthwhile.
It is a bit unclear if his armor is going to be enchanted or not, my impression is that Yajin is sacrificing that idea to appease said noble.
I can't say I understand wanting to pass off the job to another workshop either; they may have known how to make the tippet in the past, but there's no guarantee that they've preserved the technique, especially since they appear to employ lots of people and mass produce goods which aren't top quality.
Yeah, it's risky, but as Pokari said, he might drag his new friends into a bad spot if they produce a "fake" without the blessing of the lord and OG craftsmen.
Again, I don't think he has much of a choice. The medieval fantasy world he finds himself in isn't a democracy with equal rights. Nobles can get away with anything. If the guy who controls the police and military force in his area of residence wants him to present himself, he's expected to do so. See how Alphonse was almost trepidatious of the idea of letting Yajin wait a couple of days to heal his wounds. A commoner letting a noble wait for whatever reason is inviting bad mojo.

The next chapter should drop in a couple of days, and in it the manga story started to move back towards where the LN is, so maybe we will still see Yajin doing despicable stuff.
Thanks for the chapter, great work!
