In classic Seto fashion, to nobody's surprise, nothing happens because he refuses to cross that line with Anjou. Although one could probably argue that Anjou isn't too serious about her "offer" either, since she already knows he's the safe kind of guy she can tease in that manner.

If she actually wanted something to happen, she'd be way more disappointed. Might even question his libido and/or sexuality, but she was perfectly fine with his (expected) answer. It was just the usual teasing we've seen so many times.

I'm pretty sure that's mostly in manga, just like with deadly rains or getting drunk on alcohol-flavored sweets, it's probably very exaggerated version of real life problem in Japan society. Real Japanese teenagers don't get confessions interrupted by fireworks or wait with first kiss until some arbitrary moment that makes good place for last chapter of a story.

What I'm saying, the manga characters might be based on Japanese values, but they're also shaped by manga romance writing tropes.

I’d like to believe that this is true, but I’ve also seen actual documentaries, plural, with grown men with headbands, glow sticks, and tshirts with (insert teen moe idol here) dancing with no shame, until the meet and greet.

It would almost be admirable, if the circumstances were slightly different. Still, I get your point, and really hope it’s over exaggerated too.

At least Nagatoro had the decency of ending soon after the characters got together.
Does the author believes he is making any "progress" in their relationship? Nothing really changed since the beginning! For Anjou's part I can still accept, but Seto is a non-character, he ruins any attempt to develop anything. Inuyama and Toyoda with their few chapters had more development than them in their whole 14 volume. Now that they're officially together author should change focus to Inuyama and Toyoda and leave Seto and Anjou simmering in the background.
And not only because Inuyama and Toyoda's romance and their interactions are more interesting, they have other things going on in their lives.

We've seen a couple times how his family is really cold toward him, their behavior ranging from indifference to outright mockery. No affection in upbringing makes it difficult to be affectionate in maturity.

Am I the only one who recognizes this as the same thing with Senpai and Nagatoro during the training camp Arc, when she wanted him to kiss her despite their bet. He resisted her advances and reminded her that she needed to see things through in order to get what they both wanted.

It would be out of character for Seto to suddenly go full horndog on his pretty kitty maiden. He loves and respects her too much to fall into that pit...
