Yay, had to be a douchebag that dies and gets sent after our MC first, ey?...
This could have used another quality assurance pass to add to the confusion by earlier referring to him with wrong pronouns or doing the complicated word-play to assure nothing was said either way. Just feels like a shame the joke was ruined by not playing into it.If only the pacing and transitions between timelines and perspectives are smoother and more obvious, then this would be a lot more readable.
Anyway, thanks for translating!
Translator error. Basically, it's the manga trope where no japanese gender pronouns are used to make the "gender confusion" event.
First panel where "he" is used: Kasim said "この子” in the raws which just means "this child".
2nd: Fester basically treated Van like a living, white object you can touch.
3rd: Rina also said "この子"
Ya, its like a couple other series i had to put on standby. Im a mass read enjoyer, which goes doubly so for slow moving (in depth) series. Hope it builds up enough if i end up going that route (could forget lol)As a WN reader, I think manga adaptation is progressing at a nice brisk pace. It's just that the original story is quite lengthy and epic in scope.
The other Hiroto is exactly what he seems to be - a hero type who organized the rest of the reincarnators into a superhero team.
The reincarnated assassins are going to be our MC's ongoing concern for quite a while. Because what is a life as a Dark Lord without heroes trying to take you out?
Yes, that's certainly a valid way to read this story.
Good people don't kill their comrades' mothers without a good reason. And thus, they tend to live somewhat longer.Yay, had to be a douchebag that dies and gets sent after our MC first, ey?...
I think I should add "/sarcasm" to the end of my comment.Good people don't kill their comrades' mothers without a good reason. And thus, they tend to live somewhat longer.
From a Doylist perspective, sending a bad guy first would ensure they wouldn't just join forces with the MC and make his life too easy.
I understood that referenceEven though the merchant's daughter thought otherwise, the perceptive readers had a feeling it was Onee X Shota.
It's not really that many, in my opinion. And examples where gods are less dicks than the MC, like Spider and Tanya the Evil, are not a solid argument.Their a way to many examples though, to name a few:
So I'm a Spider, So What?
The Saga of Tanya the Evil
Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy
Arifureta
Mushoku Tensei
No Game No Life
Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling
Her Majesty's Swarm
Serial Killer Isekai ni Oritatsu
The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat
And this is if your just talking about a generic dick, if you change the criteria to annoying gods, gods that inconvenience the MC or ones that demand tributes then the list would be in the 30s
Just to be clear both names are supposed to be read as Amamiya, Yoshi, the guy translating the WN, just spelled the names differently to make a distinction for us English readers. In Japanese, most names are written in Kanji, and these Kanjis can have more than one way of reading.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji
There are many people in Japan with different names, but that are read the same, this is the same case here.
As pointed above, Kanjis can have two pronunciations, so how exactly do you know when you should use one or the other? By asking. There is no specific rule to say to use one or the other.
This is the problem with their names, they are written in completely different ways, however, they can be read in the same way, but they were not supposed to be read the same, as we know, one is Amamiya, the other is Amemiya. This is the source of the confusion.
Amemiya and Amamiya were unrelated, they were mentioned to look similar, but that's just a convenient plot device, a Diabolus Ex Machina. They were not the same age, Amemiya was a hikkikomori who had been just kicked out of his house, and was going to visit his uncle who was supposed to get him a job, but the terrorist attack happened in the way there.
This is also information that is supposed to be in this chapter, but the manga stripped of for lack of time.
So that's all they are to each other, they are not doppelgangers nor anything, Amamiya imagined that just because he is the one getting the short end of the stick.
In the same way, the one guy who had asked not to be reincarnated (remember him? Check chapter 1 if not) is nothing relevant in the overall plot, however he is another convenient plot device, another Diabolus Ex Machina, that serves to get Narumi (and others who were helping her), who had been searching for Amamiya, to guess that maybe it was Amamiya who had refused, thus she wouldn't be able to find him in Origin, this is another reason on why they never imagined the Undead was Amamiya.
No, the furigana, and the hiragana used when Rodcorte notices his mistake, are very explicit in how the names are supposed to be read.Just to be clear both names are supposed to be read as Amamiya, Yoshi, the guy translating the WN, just spelled the names differently to make a distinction for us English readers.
The god in this world is stupidSooooo this god is an idiot right?
he’s sending someone obsessed with revenge to kill someone for being obsessed with revenge. I get mc is more dangerous but…wouldn’t that just mean that this new guy is destined to fail?
bad logic on the god’s part. He should’ve at least waited for a few people to die to send them all at once.
also, really loving the different reactions to Van here in the other country. They think she’s awesome for being half-vampire
Well, even without the reference to having the same name, the even may still happen just the same, we just won't get a one liner from Kanata, and he will seem more brutal to random people (something he totally is), rather than doing what he does for some minimal coincidence.
huh.... No? The two characters you must be thinking are the same person are not the same person.I was referring a much later consequence of having readers know this name and the president daughter's fate.
The betrayal of the president and the counter betrayal of Sergeï.
Not really, the fact that he's out and about would imply that he WAS living in the forest with his mother, and came out of the forest after she died. Yes he used present tense but a lot of people make that mistake anyway, and since these adventurers aren't exactly highly educated they won't be pedantic with his grammar. While it's nice that they don't hate him just for being a dhampir, I'm really surprised that none of them stopped to think about the implications of him saying "I'm living in the forest with my mother" followed by "my mother is recently deceased". Living with dead people in this world means either insanity or necromancy, and neither one is considered a good thing by humans, far as I'm aware.
Skills are easy to improve when they're low. But when the artist is already good enough to draw this manga, there is not much room for improvement, and polishing one's skills takes time. It's kinda disappointed that the artist's skill haven't improved much over time like many other mangakas...
Personally, I think this artist is mid-level. With how many frames that were left empty. Line works that went from rough to just ok after 50 chapters.Skills are easy to improve when they're low. But when the artist is already good enough to draw this manga, there is not much room for improvement, and polishing one's skills takes time.
You should read everything in between, in the novel (now at chapter 355) Van is currently 13 years old and has gone through a lot of development, look it up in lightnovelbastionYo WN and LN reader. Where are we at. I don’t care for the stuff I missed. I want to read ahead.
