Of course the mom is going to be shocked when she learns the truth, especially when she figures out that she's literally the last one to know. But it seemed like she was already coming to terms with it but of course this is the type of manga where no one talks to anyone unless its to cause trauma.

So now, rather than call his mom to check on her or even how the other girl is doing, these two are what, going to run away and live together? I'm sure just abandoning your traumatized mother and the others is going to go over perfectly.
yep, I found it kind of dumb (because the MC should know better), like how would the mom not empathize if she suffered the same as her daughter, specially his son should know that leaving her alone will damage her mother a lot more than returning and trying to fix it even if she was mad at shiika.

I can finally scratch the itch that's been bugging me since I read chapter three of this thing idk how long ago that was: every newly introduced situation here is ephemeral and did not establish anything but a setting.

Problems here just rise and pop. They really just appear for the sake of narrative, except since there's not really any status quo, they just keep coming back to the rapist dad being killed (this being the fundamental status quo rather than whatever's happening) and everybody else go on a quick deprecation regarding death, either for themselves or others. Then a new problem appears for the narrative. Rinse and repeat. Nobody really learns anything except, again, for the narrative.

All this said, I'm definitely sticking to my seat on this trainwreck for at least a couple more chapters. Now that all mysteries about Shiika is answered I really have no idea where this is gonna go next.
I agree, I’ve had a similar feeling since the first chapters. The story has been shifting toward an overly dramatic tone losing any chance to develop further. Recent chapters all have this same-y tone of heavyhanded drama and pure angst. The characters don’t get any room to breathe, reflect, duel... And a character like Shiika’s brother feels like it was created solely to torment the MCs, to what purpose? The author already had a compelling narrative in the beginning, no need of more trauma dumping.

Still a cool trainwreck, staying till the end.

Great idea, leave your confused/traumatized mother alone so she loses even his son now. Also how does he want to earn money, it shouldn't be easy to find job for a guy that was in jail because he killed someone.

Quite sad the son had to abandon her mother but his little sister needed him too. I am sure they will all be back together after a while.

The only good part of this history is how that teacher got what he deserved, he should have suffered more.

To those that think they're just gonna abandon their mom, you're not actually serious are you? It's obvious he's just trying to get Shiika to calm down and collect her thoughts, what's the point of saying "We're family" if theyre just going to abandon their mom. He has a goddamn phone to check up on his mom
