sometimes it feels like yuri is in a dire state these days. every other series i read has an extremely abrupt ending just as things are getting good. its really disheartening and is making me hesitate to even start new works.

I can't say I'm exactly happy this got cancelled, but I did breathe a sigh of relief at how at least it won't drop in quality like a rock like some other yuri I've read.

I'm so tired of really good Yuri getting the axe out of nowhere when I swear they are good enough to get an anime. This genre drives me crazy.

lol axed. Can't say i'm surprised. Work on your MC properly next time instead of this "i'm happy that she is gonna get married since this is just a game" nonsense from start to end.

And no, considering the amount of anime adaptations yuri has been getting lately, there is no shortage of support from the viewer/reader base. Blaming readers for shit writing is insanity.

"People are bound to get sick and lost interest after a whole year of no progression" some romcoms go on like that for literally years and still live, wdym?
Sometime it's a matter of inertia. Just like a baby, the first 3-5 volumes of a manga is its most critical period. Usually vol 2 sales alone will determine whether it gets continued. Publishers axe a new series more easily because they haven't sunk any investment in it yet. Grow a decent readership, survive past 5 volumes, and you will be much more secure. At that point the mangaka would tend to preserve the status quo to keep their series going for as long as possible. Case in point, most Shonen Jump series are either axed at 3 volumes or go on till they have double digit numbers.

It's a shame this is getting the axe, but I can't say I'm surprised. As much as I personally like both gyarus and yuri, the story itself just hasn't gone anywhere in three volumes now. After the basic premise was set up in the first two chapters, nothing has really happened since then. The MC being isekai'd into the world (or even being a gyaru) hasn't really had any influence on anything, the villainess's reputation hasn't changed at all, nothing has happened with the game's original protagonist, and so on... The one big development we had was the gyaru's hand being cut off, but of course that got reverted instantly and had basically no effect on anything as a result.

As some people said here there are other series that spin around in circles with the main romance/plot just as much, but those at least tend to have large casts of characters that each have their own spotlight chapters to flesh out the world and everyone's relationships a little bit. And even when they don't, there's at least some chapters with the main couple where we get to learn more about the dynamics of their relationship or even just who they are as individual people.

That chart on the scanlator page of every chapter showing the relationships between the three female leads? That's the whole manga. It was established in chapter 2 and you could have skipped right to this chapter without missing a thing.

Axe-kun continues gutting everything on its path.

"Japan is an incredibly LGBT supportive country"

Seeing how yuri manga are one of the most commonly cancelled manga series, the japanese market customer base tells me that is NOT fucking true.:cautious:

Eat up your isekai slave girl slop you incel pieces of shit.
I mean, how is your story is going to sell if it isnt a...
Slow life Isekai with MMORPG logic AND status windows where the MC is playing creative mode, also don't forget the harem of horribly traumatized slave women.
Oh, we also NEED the subplot of the main character recreating every Japanese dish under the sun.
Bonus points if the MC doesn't have a personality other than being Japanese and "Really kind" whatever the fuck that means.

This is why it's so hard to find good food nowadays. It seems one of the other new trends is "I got kicked out of the party" for various insipid reasons when they were doing all the work. What a creative and refreshing plot! Or they actually have the most broken ability, but they just didn't know! It be a breath of fresh air if someone wrote an actual redemption story of an absolute shit of a human facing the music and turning around in that scenario

Okay, what is this "the story hasn't gone anywhere". Like, chapter 10 isn't that long ago. Almelia has finally open her heart and Serina finally find self-worth after repeatedly talking down about herself.
It is a monthly series. It needs to get somewhere sometime after a year of chapters. Or at least establish some over all plot aside from the romance. It has no business dragging its feet and the result is the axe as expected.
